Investing in stronger families is essential to creating safer and more resilient communities. As part of our commitment to child protection and family wellbeing, Pamoja Youth Initiative participated in the five-day Safe Families Workshop organized by Save the Children Tanzania, strengthening our capacity to promote positive parenting, safeguard children, and support family resilience at the community level.

The training focused on positive parenting, psychosocial support, children's resilience, and community engagement, equipping participants with practical approaches to create safer and more supportive environments for children.

The knowledge gained will strengthen PYI's ongoing efforts to empower families, safeguard children, and foster resilient communities across Zanzibar.

🌍 Empowering young people with knowledge and action is key to building cleaner, greener, and more sustainable communities.

As part of the commemoration of , Pamoja Youth Initiative joined Climate Action Network Tanzania to promote environmental awareness and action among young people at Chuini Primary and Secondary Schools.

Students were engaged in discussions on waste management, proper waste disposal, and the critical role youth play in protecting the environment. The sessions were complemented by a clean-up activity, reinforcing the importance of translating environmental knowledge into practical action.

Through these engagements, students strengthened their understanding of environmental responsibility and were encouraged to adopt positive waste management practices, helping to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and community action among the next generation.

Inclusive governance is most effective when young people are empowered as active partners in shaping policies, influencing decisions, and driving development outcomes. Pamoja Youth Initiative, through the project with generous support from ForumCiv Eastern & Southern Africa, successfully convened the Multi-Stakeholder Youth, Governance and Inclusion Conference in Zanzibar, bringing together key stakeholders to foster dialogue, strengthen collaboration, and advance meaningful youth participation in governance.

The conference brought together youth representatives, government officials, civil society organizations, and development partners to address key governance challenges and opportunities. The engagement generated actionable recommendations, strengthened stakeholder collaboration, and reinforced the role of young people in promoting democratic governance and sustainable development.

This initiative contributes to more inclusive, accountable, and responsive governance by positioning youth as key actors in shaping Zanzibar’s development agenda. Pamoja Youth Initiative remains committed to amplifying youth voices and advancing meaningful participation in governance processes.

🎓 Graduation Highlights | Youth Leadership Program

The graduation of the 10-day Training of Trainers (ToT) marked a significant milestone in empowering young leaders under the project, implemented by Pamoja Youth Initiative in collaboration with Digital Opportunity Trust and the Mastercard Foundation. ✨

A total of 34 youth successfully completed the training, gaining practical skills in leadership, facilitation, operations, digital business, and entrepreneurship. Out of them, 30 youth leaders will now be deployed to various centres to cascade the knowledge and skills acquired to their fellow youth peers, creating a ripple effect of empowerment, innovation, and community impact. 💡

This is more than a graduation, it is the beginning of a growing network of young changemakers equipped to mentor, inspire, and create sustainable opportunities for other youth across communities.

🔥 Youth voices are leading change today! , Program Officer for Democracy and Good Governance, proudly represented Pamoja Youth Initiative at the Tanzania Youth Development Forum 2026, contributing to the panel discussion on the sustainability of youth-led initiatives and platforms. This engagement was part of the project supported by Save the community Tanzania in collaboration with Tanzania Bora Initiative.

This year’s theme, “5 Years of TYDF: Reflecting and Celebrating the Valuable Contribution of Youth to Sustainable Development,” served as a strong reminder of the important role young people continue to play in transforming communities and creating lasting impact. Through the Vijana Plus project, more than 1,200 young people have been directly reached and empowered since the platform was established, strengthening youth participation, leadership, and community engagement.

As Mwalimu Julius Nyerere once said, “Youth are the workforce of the nation and they must be protected and nurtured.” ✨ At Pamoja Youth Initiative, we remain committed to empowering young people, amplifying their voices, and creating opportunities that inspire the next generation to lead sustainable change in their communities and beyond.
