As part of promoting the PDS Recycling & Innovation Hub, the PDS Zanzibar Team proudly participated in a beach clean-up organised by Zanzibar Volunteers for Environmental Conservation (ZVECO) at Unguja Ukuu Kaipwani.

We believe that protecting our environment starts with action. Every piece of plastic collected is a step towards a cleaner ocean, healthier communities, and a more sustainable future.

At PDS, we are always proud to take part in initiatives that inspire environmental responsibility and promote recycling for a greener Zanzibar.

We are excited to see how the Digital Business Training is adding immense value to our students at PDS Zanzibar. By combining their practical skills with Digital Knowledge, our graduates are broadening their horizons and taking their small businesses online! 💡📱

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming leadership from Pamoja Youth Initiative (PYI), alongside teams from Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) and the Mastercard Foundation, to review the progress of this impactful program. As the host organization, we were also thrilled to tour them through our Recycling & Innovation Hub! ♻️

Our wonderful volunteers from France and Egypt had the unique opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of Zanzibar by participating in a traditional local drama in Matetema Village.

This unforgettable experience was part of our Free Village Tour Program, designed to connect volunteers with local communities, celebrate traditional arts, and provide an authentic cultural experience at no cost.
At PDS Sustainable Village, we believe that volunteering is more than giving back—it's about learning, sharing cultures, and creating meaningful memories together.

We have successfully produced our first plastic paving sample using HDPE (♻️ #2) and the result is strong and promising! 💯

This is only the beginning. With continuous production and innovation, we will keep improving the quality, InshaAllah.

Our next step is launching a weekly community cleanup campaign across beaches, schools, hospitals, villages, and the city.
Together with our PDS Training Center students, we will collect, sort, and recycle plastic waste into valuable new products at PDS Sustainable Village.

The community is also welcome to bring and sell recyclable plastic waste to PDS Village anytime.

A special thank you to Houcem and the SAT Team for believing in this vision and helping turn it into reality. Your support means everything!

We are now looking for partners to expand this initiative—creating a cleaner Zanzibar, more jobs for young people, and sustainable income to support PDS Sustainable Village.

PDS Zanzibar is proud to serve as one of the host organizations for the Go Beyond Project, implemented in partnership with and generously supported by the Digital Trust Opportunity (DOT) - and the Mastercard Foundation- () from both Canada.

At PDS, we have empowered over 3,000 women and youth through practical skills training. Today, we are excited to expand that impact by providing digital skills training—equipping young people with the knowledge they need to access employment, entrepreneurship, and new opportunities in the digital economy.

We sincerely thank Pamoja Youth Initiative, especially its Executive Director, Mr. Rashid Mwinyi, for this meaningful partnership and for believing in our shared vision of empowering youth.

Today, we successfully continued testing our recycling machine while also conducting plastic recycling training.

A special thank you to Adem from SAT, Engineer Ridhwan from PDS Pemba, and Engineer Abdalla from PDS Zanzibar for their dedication, expertise, and technical support in making these tests and training sessions possible.
