It is funded by the International Citizen Service (ICS). The Restless Development Temeke Programme is a project by the International Citizen Service (ICS). ICS is a global volunteering programme funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID). The project brings together young people from the UK and the project countries, to work together and make a difference to global poverty. I
CS is implemented through six development agencies, one of which is Restless Development. Restless Development runs across eight countries in Africa and Asia. We understand that young people are most affected by extreme poverty, lack of employment and poor health. However, we know that the restless energy of young people can drive positive change in communities. Restless Development works to make an impact in three key areas: Sexual and Reproductive Health, Livelihoods and Civic Participation. The goal area of this project is focused on sustainable livelihoods and employment. In the beginning of 2013 Restless Development assessed that youth unemployment and the lack of employability skills are a pressing issue for the urban youth in Dar es Salaam. We have developed a toolkit as a resource to support young people to understand the demands and challenges they will face in the working world; and encourage them to develop the skills they will need for their professional an personal development. These sessions will focus on subjects such as; how to set foot in the working world, how to apply for a job (including interview skills), what to consider when thinking of self-employment and how to write a CV. Sign up to our programme to attend all sessions and receive a certificate of attendance in return.
