AFRIWAG joined fellow education stakeholders in commemorating the Global Action Week for Education (GAWE), 20–24 April 2026, under the coordination of the Tanzania Education Network/Mtandao wa Elimu Tanzania (TEN/MET) in Momba District.
The event was held under the theme: “Rasilimali zetu; Elimu yetu, Mustakabali wetu”, emphasizing the importance of utilizing local resources to strengthen inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all.
Through this commemoration, AFRIWAG reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for access to education, promoting community participation, and supporting vulnerable groups—including children, youth, women, and older persons—to ensure no one is left behind in achieving sustainable development.

AFRIWAG towards commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026.

Today we join the world in celebrating International Women's Day. AFRIWAG sends a message of appreciation, respect, and encouragement to all women and girls in our communities.

To older women, we thank you for your wisdom, guidance, and lifelong contributions to families and society. We encourage you to continue participating in community groups and seek regular health check-ups to prevent and manage diseases such as Hypertension and Diabetes. Your health and well-being matter.

To adolescent girls, remember that your dreams are valid and your future is bright. Stay in school, believe in your abilities, and seek the right information about your health and life choices, including Sexual and Reproductive Health. You are the leaders of tomorrow.
To all women, your strength, resilience, and leadership are vital for the development of our families and communities. We encourage you to prioritize your health, support one another, and stand against all forms of violence and discrimination.

AFRIWAG calls upon families, communities, and leaders to respect, protect, and empower women and girls of all ages.

Together, let us build a society where every woman and girl can live with dignity, equality, and opportunity.

Happy International Women’s Day.
