Hey guys, look at those stars
CALL FOR CONSORTIUM PARTNERS:
Sustainable Agriculture & Ecosystems Restoration Initiative – Tanzania
1. Background
Environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable agricultural practices threaten food security and local livelihoods in Tanzania. Native bees are critical pollinators that support both ecosystems and smallholder farms. However, communities often lack the resources, knowledge, and market access to sustainably manage these natural resources.
To address this, SuBeHuDe is launching the Sustainable Agriculture & Ecosystem Restoration Initiative, which aims to restore native ecosystems, conserve stingless bee populations, and empower local communities through sustainable environmental entrepreneurship and sustainable food systems.
2. Objectives
• Biodiversity & Ecosystem Restoration: Establish pollinator-friendly habitats and restore degraded landscapes.
• Native Bee Conservation: Promote sustainable stingless beekeeping (meliponiculture) for pollination services and local livelihoods.
• Sustainable Food Systems: Strengthen climate-smart agriculture and community food security.
• Community Empowerment & Entrepreneurship: Train and support communities to generate income from honey, propolis, beeswax, and pollination-based services.
3. Consortium Partnership
We are seeking like-minded organizations to form a consortium to co-design, implement, and scale this initiative.
Ideal Partners Include:
• Environmental NGOs and conservation organizations
• Research institutions and universities focused on biodiversity, agriculture, or bees
• Community-based organizations (CBOs) and social enterprises
• Government agencies or policy-focused organizations
• Private sector actors with interest in sustainable agriculture or bee products
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Lead Organization: Overall program coordination, donor liaison, monitoring, and reporting.
• Partner Organizations: Technical support, activity implementation, knowledge sharing, and monitoring.
• Community Networks: Local engagement, training, and co-management of meliponiculture and restoration activities.
4. Why Join?
• Participate in a high-impact, multi-partner initiative addressing biodiversity, livelihoods, and climate resilience.
• Access international donor funding opportunities (EU, UN, bilateral, and private foundations).
• Strengthen technical capacity, visibility, and collaboration across the environmental and agriculture sectors.
• Contribute to innovative, community-driven solutions linking conservation, pollination services, and sustainable food systems.
5. Next Steps
1. Expression of Interest (EOI): Submit a brief overview of your organization, areas of expertise, and proposed contribution to the initiative.
2. Consortium Planning Meeting: Participate in a virtual session to discuss roles, responsibilities, and co-design activities.
3. Full Proposal Submission: Joint submission to potential donors and funders.
