Zanzibar Stone Town Heritage Society

Zanzibar Stone Town Heritage Society ZSTHS is dedicated to celebrating and preserving Stone Town's unique cultural and building heritage through awareness-raising and capacity-building.
(1)

ZSTHS was formed in 2002 by concerned local members of the community who want to preserve the town's unique heritage for future generations. UNESCO granted Stone Town the World Heritage Site award in 2000 in recognition of its unique cultural and social importance. The buildings are a blend of Arab, Swahili, Indian, and colonial styles, creating a mix of architectural styles and the best example of swahili culture on the East African coast.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ International Day for the Abolition of Slavery ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

Today, we join the world in reflecting on the harsh legacy of slavery. At the Zanzibar Stone Town Heritage Society, we honour this day by remembering the countless lives impacted by the East African slave trade.

The East African Slave Trade Exhibition tells these powerful stories and through education and remembrance, we strive to ensure that this painful chapter is never forgotten.

Letโ€™s work together for a future free of exploitation and injustice. โœŠ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒ
