To celebrate going into our first block exams of didactic, we asked some of the Class of 2027 which system block/class they think will be their favorite. Predictions are in, and a few standouts are already emerging. (Cardio is off to an early lead!🫀)

(PS: Put your guesses in the comments of how many people said Cardio!)

Happy PA Week! As we bring about a close to the end of the week that highlights all the amazing things PAs have done and continue to do, the Class of 2025 wanted to share more of our clinical experiences!

We also wanted to thank a few groups of people, starting with the PAs who came before us, who have paved the way and advocated for the PA profession like they have; we're excited to soon be members of the profession you have guided and shaped!

Big thanks to the JMU PA faculty for giving us an outstanding education that prepared us for clinical year and beyond!

Lastly, much appreciation goes to our clinical Preceptors (especially those who are PAs), who have further taught us the medical, surgical, and overall clinical skills we'll need to become successful PA-Cs (which we will be in just a couple short months)!!!!

There are also a few social updates at the end as well!

A group from the Class of 2025: Brian, Anna, Shannon, Carly, Piper, and Melanie went on a study abroad trip to Tanzania, Africa! This trip included a few days in Zanzibar, a wonderful safari, and a life changing experience at the hospital in Shirati! Thank you to the people of Tanzania for being such wonderful hosts! Asante sana 🇹🇿

August is usually known as the "last bit of summer vacation" for lots of students, but the PA Cohorts of 2025 and 2026 have continued to relentlessly forge ahead through the summer with their clinical rotations and systems-based courses!

Here's a quick little snapshot from what the Class of 2025 has been up to since our last clinical rotation update!

Huge congratulations to JMU's very own Jordan Andre for being named the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants (VAPA) Student of the Year!

He has had many accomplishments and contributions that made the cohort, JMU, the surrounding Harrisonburg community and beyond a better place! Some of his most notable achievements were: obtaining a $10,000 IMPACT Grant from the PA Foundation (which is a subsidiary of the American Academy of Physician Associates - AAPA) for the Suitcase Clinic, spearheading the Helping the Unhoused Fundraising Gala, which raised over $9,000 for the Blue Ridge Free Clinic, Suitcase Clinic, and Our Community Place, acquiring a $1,000 donation from the Wawa Foundation for the Blue Ridge Free Clinic, and being involved in many more activities and events on and off campus!!!!

The Class of 2025 is very fortunate to have such an outstanding person and student-clinician among our ranks! Congratulations again to Jordan on this honor; it's well deserved and we're very proud of you!

Happy Father's Day! We hope you're able to spend some time with your loved ones on this Holiday as well!

The JMU PASS Class of 2025 was recently named the American Academy of Physician Associates' (AAPA) "2025 Outstanding Student Society!" This is a national honor the AAPA awards to only one program every year.

We're grateful to have been nominated and selected for this award! However, none of this would have been possible without the incredible leadership of President Shannon, Vice President Nicolle, the unbelievable efforts from Fundraising Co-Chair and Class Liaison Jordan, as well as the vital contributions from the 21 other members of the JMU PASS Class of 2025, and the JMU PA Faculty.

Shannon, Nicolle, and Jordan got to fly out to Denver, along with a few JMU PA Faculty and two members of the JMU PASS Class of 2026, to accept the award in person. Everyone had a great time out at the AAPA's annual conference - some pictures have already been shared on the James Madison University Physician Assistant Program's posts regarding this event.

We know today is all about celebrating our Dads, but we wanted to give back a little and share this news to let them know we worked hard during Didactic, and are working hard during Clinicals to make them and our communities proud! We're thankful to have their support!

Happy Mother's Day! Hopefully folks are able to spend time with their loved ones on this holiday, whether in person or via a phone call/Facetime for those who are far away.

The JMU PASS Class of 2025 wanted to reveal we recently won a SOAR Award, acknowledging us as THE "2024 - 2025 Outstanding Student Organization." We're grateful to have been nominated, and appreciate the SOAR committee's consideration of the whole team's efforts in supporting the community over the last year.

While today is all about celebrating our award-winning Moms, we just wanted to share this little bit of information and let them know we've been working hard in and out of the classroom to make them and the community proud, too! We're so glad to always have their support! :)

It’s a good Friday to get another update from the Class of 2025! Clinical Year has certainly kept us busy! We’ve successfully completed three rotations so far, and have been observing, learning, and doing a lot!!!!

While the various outpatient clinics, ERs, ORs, ICUs, and all the other clinical locations we’ve been in have occupied much of our time, the Second Years have also been able to schedule some fun get-togethers on weekends or on our days off from shift!

The Class of 2025 just completed the first week of our first Clinical Rotation! From helping deliver four babies on the very first day, to saving lives in the ICU, ER, and OR, to caring for dozens of patients in various outpatient clinics, we’ve all certainly had a very busy first rotation so far!

1. Piper getting back late from a VERY busy shift in the ICU.
2. Fariha absolutely rocking it at her Cardiology rotation.
3. Katie doing so amazing at her outpatient GI rotation.
4. Leia and Nile doing outstanding work at their Pediatrics rotation!
