Whatever progress there will be in life, it doesn’t come through adapting but through daring! The Swahili word ‘Thubutu’ means ‘to dare’. Dare to be your own change! But to be able to be your own change, you need to get opportunities; opportunities to gain information, to learn, to process, to shape your thoughts and ideas. This starts at a young age. We want to see local communities flourish, dar

ing to take measure into their own hands. Children are at the base of this; they are our future. Children deserve to grow up in a safe and healthy environment; an environment that enables them to reach their full potential. Unfortunately this is often not the case. One of the major problems? The lack of education; education in the broadest sense and as an information provision tool. Education and information result in knowledge and knowledge drives change. At TAI we seek to appreciate and develop what Tanzania can do for the development of her own communities and Africa as a whole. Thubutu African Initiatives (TAI) is an officially registered local non-governmental organization and is currently primarily active in the remote rural areas of the Shinyanga Rural and Kishapu district, located in the Shinyanga Region.

Thubutu Africa Initiative to Empower Young Mothers in Buganika

We have launched our 2025 Campaign, aimed at empowering young mothers in Buganika village who became parents at an early age and continue to face social and economic challenges.

This year’s campaign highlights their resilience and determination, as they strive to build a better future for themselves and their children.

The initiative focuses on strengthening their economic independence through:

Entrepreneurship training

Start-up capital for small businesses

Strengthened savings groups (Vikoba)

Parenting and life-skills development

Psychosocial care and mentorship

The Giving Tuesday campaign calls on supporters to donate from as little as USD 10, providing the support a young mother needs to start or grow a small business through TAI’s community-based savings and entrepreneurship model.

Funds raised will directly support the 121 young mothers currently enrolled in the Buganika programme under TAI’s Direct initiative.

Another Milestone Reached! 🌻🇹🇿
We are excited to share that we have reached the full target amount for the project “Scaling Up Women's Sunflower Business” in Kishapu District, Tanzania, led by our partner Thubutu Africa Initiatives (TAI)!

This was made possible through the generous contributions of:
Wilde Ganzen, Stichting Overal, and Voeten in de Aarde. Thank you for believing in women-led change!

With a total budget of Tsh 40,383,158 (€14,801), this project will now:
🌻 Train 100 single mothers in sunflower oil production, organized into 4 self-managed groups.
💼 Enable these women to become income-generating stakeholders, supporting their families with food, education, and healthcare.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Positively impact 400 family members through improved financial stability.
⚖️ Promote equality, dignity, and women’s rights, creating a stronger, more inclusive community.

This project is more than business, it is a path to justice, empowerment, and restored human dignity for single mothers.

We are deeply grateful to all our partners who made this vision a reality. 💛
