Child abuse is an undeniable reality, with lasting impacts on a child’s physical health and psychological well-being. In Shinyanga, the problem persists, with a significant proportion of children experiencing some form of abuse.
Through the Keeping School Children Project, funded by Women Fund Tanzania, has taken targeted steps to address this challenge. The initiative established 14 school child safety
desks and 16 junior councils, while training 18 teachers on child protection systems, including how to properly report abuse cases.

The project also supported schools in setting up child-friendly reporting mechanisms, such as suggestion boxes, making it easier and safer for children to speak out.

These efforts have led to increased reporting of abuse cases and improved responsiveness from parents and caregivers, teachers, and government authorities, an important shift toward stronger child protection and accountability.

By linking livelihoods with conservation, we are building a future that is inclusive, resilient, and environmentally responsible.

A proud moment for the Vijana beekeepers from Bushoma and the Nyuki ni Mazingira group.

The team has successfully hung beehives in the Mwantini forest, marking an important step in their beekeeping journey.

This effort reflects the commitment of local youth and people with disability to create sustainable livelihoods while protecting the natural environment.

Through beekeeping, these young people and people with disability are not only working toward honey production but also contributing to forest conservation and community development.

Small actions like this are building a stronger and more sustainable future.

On 04/03/2026, we successfully carried out the installation of 25 beehives in Mwantini Forest through the Beekeeping and Environment Group formed by people with disabilities.

This initiative aims to empower the group to generate sustainable income through beekeeping while actively participating in environmental conservation and protection.

Through this project, group members continue to learn and apply improved beekeeping practices that increase honey production and other bee products, while also supporting the conservation of the forest ecosystem. Beekeeping plays an important role in pollination, which helps strengthen biodiversity and maintain the health of our forests.

We are proud to see people with disabilities taking an active role in protecting the environment while building a stronger foundation for economic independence.

Efforts like these contribute not only to improving livelihoods but also to addressing the growing challenges of climate change through sustainable use of natural resources.
