On this World Biodiversity Day, we celebrate elephants, the gentle giants that shape and sustain our ecosystems.
As seed dispersers, forest gardeners, and creators of wildlife pathways, elephants play a vital role in maintaining healthy biodiversity.

At the Tanzanian Elephant Foundation, we honor and protect these magnificent animals because conserving elephants means protecting ecosystem services, nature, wildlife, and the future of our planet.

Together, let’s act locally for a global impact.

Happy World Bee Day 🐝

Tiny pollinators play a vital role in keeping our planet blooming and our future growing.

At Tanzanian Elephant Foundation, we use farmer-led beehive fences as a sustainable solution to mitigate human-elephant conflict. This method helps protect elephants, reduce crop loss, diversify community incomes, and increase pollinator populations that enhance the ecosystem. 🐘🌱🐝

Together, protecting bees means protecting biodiversity, people, and wildlife.

The future of conservation begins in the classroom. 🐘📚

Through conservation education programs around Mkomazi National Park, we inspire students to become the next generation of wildlife protectors nurturing young minds that will shape a future where people and wildlife thrive together. 🌍

Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) strengthen community cash flow and resilience through structured savings, loans access, social funds, and improved household financial stability.

We apply the VSLAs approach to build social and financial foundation needed for communities living adjacent to protected areas to effectively manage beehive fences as a sustainable deterrent against elephant crop-raiding.

This approach has contributed to reducing losses associated with elephant crop-raiding by supporting alternative livelihoods, improving management of beehive fences, and increasing community tolerance and commitment for elephant conservation.

Every collar tells a story.📍
Through GPS collaring, TEF tracks elephant movements around Mkomazi-Tsavo transboundary ecosystem , identifying migration corridors and human-elephant conflict hotspots.

These real-time data strengthen conservation planning and support strategies that promote safer coexistence between people and elephants.🐘
