From the ditch to a heaven for dogs

In Magu, just beyond Kisesa, lies a large farm. In October, I already brought three of my rescued pups to this heavenly place—and today, Jaca also gets the chance to spend her life in freedom with a wonderful, dog-loving Tanzanian couple.

Freedom, wide open land, good healthy food, and five new friends to play with.

Jaca’s eyes fill with panic when she realizes I am about to drive away without her. She doesn’t know it yet, but she is going to be incredibly happy here.

I am sad to miss her, but also deeply happy for her. Thank you so much, mama and baba, for taking such good care of four of my pups.

Over 200 families were evacuated at Nyanzaga village in Sengerema so that a Nyanzaga mining can be established. The evacuated families left their dogs and cat behind with no food, water and veterinary care. this caused a stray dogs problem in the mining. With support from Network for Animals over 50 dogs will be rescued, spay/neutered, vaccinated and adopted.
on other hand we thank the Perseus mining staff for the help and cooperation during our work.

7 puppies abandoned at Isamilo. 3,5 weeks young. Full with fleas and full with the worms of flies. Never saw so many in such little pups. But right now they are happy again.

While our work continues in Geita ... our work also continues in Mwanza! Meet Carmari ... the newest addition to our dog sanctuary. This sweet puppy was spotted by a good Samaritan who called our vets. He is now reting at the sanctuary and will be treated for mange. Updates to follow as we watch his hair fill in! You won't recognize him in 8 weeks!

CRISIS IN GEITA GOLD MINES! As droughts hit Western Tanzania ... working donkeys dependant on grazing are starving from lack of grass to eat! This had led donkeys to wander further from the mines in search of food, taking them onto private farm land. Farmers protecting their own precious crops during this drought chase these donkeys off their land, often using machetes. The outcome is horrific. We are desperately reaching out to international animal organizations to find funding to buy feed for these desperate donkeys until the rains come in November ... which will again provide grass for the donkeys to eat.
