World AIDS Day | 1 December
Young people are stepping up! 💪
Kigoma Ujiji has reduced new HIV infections by 0.7% and we’re keeping the momentum! 📉🔥

This year’s theme: “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.”
The exhibition took place at Mwananchi Secondary School grounds.

GAM 2025
KIVIDEA successfully hosted a vibrant youth festival as part of Global Action Month (GAM) themed “Act Now to End Violence.” The event brought together over 700 young people from Kigoma-Ujiji municipal council, strengthening their awareness and confidence to stand against violence toward women and children through creative expressions such as drawings, poetry, and music.
The festival also showcased exceptional youth talent through art displays, dance performances, a basketball competition, and fun interactive games. Outstanding participants received special awards from KIVIDEA.
In addition, free counselling and HIV testing services were offered on-site, giving many young people the opportunity to access supportive, youth-friendly health services in a safe and confidential environment.

Tunaendelea kufikia vijana wa nje ya shule kupitia klabu mpya za vijana chini ya mradi wa Afya Yangu Maendeleo Yangu kwa ushirikiano na tdhs. Katika vipindi hivi, vijana wanajifunza kuhusu kujitambua, balehe na changamoto zake, uhusiano, kuhimiri shinikizo rika, afya ya uzazi, kupinga ukatili wa kijinsia, na athari za dawa za kulevya.
Lengo letu ni kuwawezesha vijana kuwa na maarifa na stadi za maisha zitakazowasaidia kufanya maamuzi chanya na kuepuka mimba za utotoni, maambukizi ya VVU/UKIMWI, na ukatili wa kijinsia. Together we are building a generation that is informed, resilient, and empowered.

We were honored to host Mr. Tayson Mudarikiri, Co-Programme Coordinator and Co-Desk for SRHR at terre des hommes schweiz (tdhs).

During his visit to Kigoma, he met our beneficiaries, including out-of-school youth club members and the most vulnerable children, and held inspiring discussions with KIVIDEA staff.

Since 2023, tdhs has supported the Afya Yangu Maendeleo Yangu project, empowering young people in Kigoma with youth-friendly SRHR and GBV services, as well as empowerment opportunities.

Together, we are shaping brighter futures for children and youth!
