In our in-house tailoring class, children are gaining practical hands-on experience in repairing torn clothes, adjusting loose fittings, and sewing on buttons by hand. This is part of our ongoing life skills program, which is designed to equip every child at our center with practical skills they can carry with them long after reunification with their families.

It is amazing to see how quickly their confidence grows as they learn and practise these hand-stitching skills.

Today is International Family Day, and here at the Amani Centre for Street Children we are marking the day through different activities focused on family, healing, and hope.

The children are taking part in guided group discussions and storytelling sessions where they share their life experiences, what family means to them, and the kind of future they hope for when they are reunited with their families. These sessions are supported by staff who help create a safe space for reflection and expression.

The day also includes counselling support, creative activities such as drama, singing, and dancing, and time for the children to learn from each other through sharing. These moments help them build confidence, process their experiences, and prepare emotionally for family reintegration where possible.

We wish everyone a meaningful International Family Day from Amani Centre for Street Children.

A lovely day at Amani! Our in-house education kids received their brand new school bags today, and the smiles say it all! Seeing them so happy and motivated to keep learning is exactly why we do what we do. Every small step forward is a victory worth celebrating.

Some women don’t just open their doors; they change a child’s entire world.

To every fit person who has welcomed one of our children into their home, thank you for giving them something no program ever could: a family, a safe place, and a mother’s love.

At Amani Centre for Street Children, we work every day to rescue children from the streets and help them find safe, loving homes through our Fit Person Program. Today, we celebrate the incredible women who said yes and never looked back.

Happy Mother’s Day to every fit person in the Amani family. We honor and appreciate you today and always.

7,200 kilometres. One purpose.
From Birmingham to Moshi, this run marks 25 years of work supporting children who have lived on the streets and helping them move towards safer and more stable lives.

Each kilometre represents commitment and continued effort. Each step is part of a shared journey towards better protection, care, and opportunity for children.

This is a fundraising and awareness run for the ongoing work of Amani. Support the journey. Follow the progress. Be part of the change.

Happy Workers’ Day 2026: Meet Msoka, Employee of the Year, 21 Years of Service at Amani

At Amani, some stories are not just about work; they are about purpose, commitment, and lasting impact. Today, we shine a light on Teacher Msoka, one of the pillars of our journey.

He joined Amani in 2005 as the first teacher and has now served for 21 years. Over that time, he also played an important role in introducing the MEMKWA programme, which created a second chance for children who missed formal education to return to learning and rebuild their future.

His motivation has remained steady over the years. He believes every child, no matter their background, can change when given care, patience, and education. For him, the most powerful moments are when a child begins to change, gains confidence, and starts to see a different future.

The work has not been easy. Many children arrive with difficult experiences from street life, and the journey of change takes time. But through patience, counselling, and consistent teaching, many begin to transform step by step.

One story that stands out for him is Ramadhan. After struggling with drug use, he joined MEMKWA, learned to read and write, completed primary education in a shorter time, continued to secondary school, and later graduated from university. Today, he works as a teacher in Simiyu Region and supports his family.

Teacher Msoka always says, “Street children are children like any others, and they deserve respect, love, and opportunity.” His journey reflects what Amani stands for: transformation through education and belief in every child’s future.

What a wonderful day, filled with love and blessings! We are proud and honored to spend a special day with our Amani long-term friends and supporters from Germany, Susanne and Markus. In honor of Amani’s 25th anniversary, Susanne and her husband organized a trip to Tanzania along with their 20 friends from Germany and Austria to witness the impact of their involvement 25 years ago.

The day was filled with several activities, including a street outreach in highly populated areas with street-connected children, a visit to the families of children Amani continues to support, interacting with the Amani children and staff in Moshi, and sharing a special meal with them. Follow Susanne’s journey to learn more about her recent visit to Amani and how she got involved with Amani for the first time. You will love it and feel proud to be part of this special journey yourself.

Make a difference today in honoring the Amani 25th anniversary by making a one-time donation of $25 https://www.amanikids.org/donate. Ensuring Amani continues its mission for many years towards transforming children’s lives.

Most of the children who come to Amani carry deep trauma from life on the streets and the painful experiences that led them there. Even before they have fully recovered, we welcome them into our in-house education programme as an important part of their healing journey. Alongside counselling and other interventions, the classroom becomes a safe space where trust is rebuilt and confidence begins to grow.

At our centre, many children finally feel safe enough to open up about what they have been through and what forced them to flee to the streets. Through continuous counselling, care, and learning, they slowly begin to reclaim their confidence and, most importantly, start to dream again.

At Amani, we believe every child deserves a safe place to heal, learn, and hope for a brighter future.

Today, on the International Day for Children Living and Working on the Streets, Amani joined the global community to take action and raise awareness.

We held community gatherings to engage people on how they can support street-connected children. These children face serious risks every day, including violence, neglect, and lack of basic needs. No child chooses this life, and no child deserves to grow up without care, protection, and opportunity. This is why we act to rescue, rehabilitate, and reintegrate.

We also distributed campaign posters to remind the community of every child’s rights and what to do when they see a child alone on the streets. Protecting children is a shared responsibility.

This is part of our journey towards Amani’s 25th anniversary in September 2026. We also appreciate the government’s continued support and collaboration in ensuring that children receive the help they need.

Amani Centre for Street Children is turning 25, and we want you to be part of this incredible milestone as we celebrate a quarter-century of transforming lives. Because of your unwavering support, thousands of children have been rescued, supported, and reunited with their families over the years.

To honor this journey, we are hosting a week of powerful reflection and connection in Moshi, culminating in a grand celebration at the Amani Centre for Street Children on September 25, 2026. Throughout the week, we will amplify the voices of our children through a national media campaign, offer personal tours of our programs to witness the growth you have sustained, and share moving testimonies from our alumni and families.

This is a unique opportunity to gather with the entire Amani family to honor our shared history and step boldly into our next chapter together. Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details, or reach out to [email protected] for more information.
