Our Good Hope Christmas Party came early this year. Because of the current situation in the country, we moved our celebration to the 4th of December. It was a little smaller than last year, but filled with the same love, joy, and hope we always wish for our kids. 🥰

And what a day it was! 🥳
Our entire Good Hope family came together: children in our daily programs, sponsored students, former students returning with their siblings and parents. Our compound felt alive and we were proud to show all the work that we do, and we also opened our Mabinti Project shop so our girls could present the beautiful bags they tailored this year.

The festivities began with speeches from our students, our staff, and our Board Chair Hamadi, each one reminding us why this work matters.
Then our kindergarteners stepped forward to proudly show that they now know their ABCs.
Our teens shared poems and their choreographed dances.
Every child received school supplies as a Christmas gift.
And our 20 kindergarteners leaving for primary school received an original Good Hope certificate!

There was food for everyone, music everywhere, and moments where the whole Good Hope family danced together. 👨🏾‍🤝‍👨🏽👭🏿🧑🏿‍🤝‍🧑🏿

We also said goodbye to our wonderful interns Ahmed, Helena, Magdalena, and Tereza, who worked with us with so much dedication and heart. ❤️

To all our donors: asante sana!!! You made this celebration possible. You helped us give our children a peaceful, joy-filled end of the year. One they will remember! 🥰

We are excited to share our fantastic annual Christmas Party with you 🩵
Due to the current situation in Tanzania, we had to move our Christmas celebration forward a bit. We were able to spend a wonderful – even if smaller – day together. ❤️
We celebrated our first graders moving on and congratulated our Stepping Stone Class on their transition to secondary school. There was delicious food for all Good Hope children and members – and above all, so much love, joy, and connection 🫶🏻 The children presented various musical performances.

There was dancing, laughter, and a beautiful sense of togetherness ✨

A huge thank you to all our donors! ❤️
Thanks to you, we were able to give the children a special year-end celebration filled with warmth and unforgettable memories.

We are so proud and happy to have such generous supporters like JCI Olten. Their incredible fundraiser means that for an entire year, our breakfast program at Good Hope will keep nourishing all the kindergarteners and teens in our programs.

They even wrote about the fundraiser in their local newspaper: https://noz.ch/olten-niederamt/detail/jci-olten-schenkt-kindern-in-tansania-ein-jahr-voller-fruehstueck-und-hoffnung

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who made this possible! 🥰

Every holiday, our sponsored students are encouraged to visit Good Hope to share their journeys, their challenges, and their triumphs - reminding us why we do what we do. For Oliver, their hugs, their smiles, and their stories are especially touching as she watches her students grow into confident young adults, thriving in their education and training. ❤️

LET’S CELEBRATE 2024 TOGETHER!
We’re so proud of our milestones, big and small, and our hearts are filled with joy as we reflect on our work: lifting up children with little access to education, crafting ideas for a better future, celebrating those who completed their education, and drawing inspiration from our friends. We’re also grateful for everything we’ve learned along the way as a Team because “Education is like an ocean, and the ocean has no end.”

Here are some highlights that made this year so special:

❤️ After years of perseverance, we were officially awarded Charity Status! We’re proud to be Charity Number 257 in Tanzania.
💙 With the installation of solar panels, we’ve become resilient to power outages. Now we can rely on computers anytime, and our compound is safely lit at night - offering security for us and illuminating the surrounding streets.
❤️ Our kitchen and sanitation facilities received essential upgrades, fixing leaky pipes, improving toilets, and ensuring a clean, functional kitchen.
💙 We launched a program for teenage boys combining light schooling, career guidance, and daily football training. This year, we hosted 4 friendly matches and one big neighborhood tournament!
❤️ Our Secondary School Preparation Short Course supported 30 students, while 10 teens in our Stepping Stone Program received personalized teaching and guidance for their next steps.
💙 Our Day Care/Preschool welcomed 50 little learners, reaching full capacity!
❤️We proudly provided 4 primary school sponsorships and 5 vocational training sponsorships, empowering young minds for brighter futures.
💙 The Mabinti Project now sells beautiful handmade bags in three shops in Germany.
❤️ Our annual Christmas celebration brought together 250 guests for a day filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit.
💙 And finally - a sweet milestone: we harvested our first mangoes from trees planted 3,5 years ago!

Every one of these achievements was made possible by our incredible sponsors, donors, and friends. Your belief in our mission keeps us going, and we can’t thank you enough!

As we wrap up 2024, we’re sending our warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🥰🎄✨

Today, we’re excited to introduce our Pre-Form One Short Course! This three-month course gives primary school graduates a valuable head start on the path to secondary school, bridging the long holiday after their national exams with engaging, meaningful activities. It also prepares them for the transition from Swahili instruction in primary school to English in secondary school.

Each year in September, seventh graders across Tanzania complete their primary school national exams, eagerly awaiting results in December. For many, this marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter: starting in January, they enter government secondary schools, where English is the primary language of instruction. Our short course is designed to make this transition as smooth and effective as possible, giving students the skills and confidence they need to thrive in their new academic environment. Students who don’t receive direct entry into secondary school are invited to stay with us in our Stepping Stone Program. This program provides continued support, offering a space where they can explore their next steps alongside our trained staff and with the involvement of their parents over the coming next two years.

We’re thrilled to have Teacher Grace, our newest team member, leading the course this year! Her passion and dedication are already making a difference, and we can’t wait to introduce her to you more formally soon. ❤️

Here’s to meaningful education, new beginnings, and the bright futures of every young learner!  🙌🏾

At Good Hope, we believe every child deserves the chance to succeed. In Tanzanian primary schools, however, many children are in classes with more than 60 students, making it easy to fall behind if they miss school due to illness or personal reasons.

That's why we're here to help children catch up on missed school content and provide the individual support they need. We are dedicated to seeing these bright minds succeed in life and reach their full potential! 🙌🏾

At Good Hope, we're committed to breaking down the barriers to education for children facing financial hardships. From free education for kindergarteners, to scholarships for primary and secondary school, vocational and university studies, we're dedicated to supporting students at every stage of their educational journey. Our initiatives address the socioeconomic challenges that often prevent families from affording basic educational necessities, leading some to delay or even end their children's schooling.

We offer a range of sponsorship opportunities tailored to meet various educational needs and donor capacities. These include sponsoring a placement in our kindergarten, covering government school fees and materials, supporting private secondary education for those denied government schooling, and funding vocational training or university studies. Our goal is to ensure access to quality education and readiness for career opportunities.

All children eligible for sponsorships have been part of our programs for some time, allowing us to understand their unique needs and circumstances. We work closely with students' parents and teachers, providing comprehensive support that includes academic and personal development. Our social worker, Julius, conducts regular home visits and school check-ups, ensuring students' well-being. During school holidays, we offer additional tuition and learning activities at our center, further supporting our students' growth.

We understand that donors seek to contribute to a cause where their support makes a direct impact, without the concern of contributions being diluted by administrative or marketing expenses. Good Hope is committed to ensuring that donations directly benefit the children and their families, offering a transparent and impactful way to support education in communities facing financial hardships.

If you're interested in making a tangible difference in a child's life, please contact us. Reach out via message or email us at [email protected] for more information on sponsorship opportunities or to connect with a child in need of support. 🥰
