Kilimanjaro Women Information Exchange and Community Organisation (KWIECO) is a Non-Governmental Organization, legally registered and predominantly operating in Kilimanjaro region Northern part of the United Republic of Tanzania.
KWIECO provides free Legal, Human Rights awareness, Economic Empowerment to marginalized women, Temporary shelter support to women survivors of Gender Based violence; Advocacy campaigns for gender equality and women’s human rights protection through collaborative approaches.
KWIECO was founded in 1987 by a group of 10 women having philanthropic ideas. KWIECO’s identity today is a Human Rights and Gender Organisation. In 1991 it was registered as a NON GOVERNMENTAL Organisation under the Societies Act and upon recommendations from external evaluation, KWIECO was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee. Since 2016 in compliance with the Non-Governmental Act 2002, certificate no: - 00NGO/0008907 (NGOs Act 2002) was issued.
KWIECO’s vision is to be an active Organization that empowers societies to be able to take responsibility to protect people’s equal rights in Tanzania.
