Our current project, Bright Mountain, based in the community of Kikavu, northern Tanzania, works to break the poverty cycle by improving education, healthcare, nutrition and disease prevention. When Dr Julian Brown visited Tanzania with Inter Care in 2014 he was touched by the difficult conditions the community were living in and saw there was a serious need for better healthcare. He felt he neede
d to help somehow so shared his experience with his friend Reverend Jorge Damasceno, together they decided they could help make positive changes and founded Health Amplifier. Dr Julian and Rev Jorge realised there was a need for not only a functioning and sustainable clinic in the region of Kikavu, but also to enable specialist care to aid in the prevention of chronic diseases, basic nutrition and condition management. In 2014, Health Amplifier invested in the completion of the Kikavu clinic, after meeting our equally enthusiastic Tanzanian Clinical Lead, Dr Temu, the clinic has successfully been running since 2015, now the Kikavu clinic has more than 5000 patients receiving quality and free healthcare. The Kikavu clinic is the foundation for our Bright Mountain project and we are now able to incorporate other community programs designed to enhance quality of life. With a team of passionate people who share a vision in positively changing healthcare, education and wellbeing we, along with the community, are excited to break this poverty cycle and see Kikavu thrive.
