Founded in 1999, NAFGEM is a legally registered NGO under the Societies Ordinance, 1954. It is non-religious, non-political, and non-racial, Our vision is the total elimination of all forms of sexual abuse in women, notably FGM in all its forms. Our main focus is the grassroots communities, which believe in, protect, and carry on the practice. It is here that the socio-cultural mechanisms interwe

ave. Community based organizations (CBOs) as well as other NGOs and institutions are targeted as entry points and also as partners. Our specific objectives include:
- To identify communities where FGM is still practiced

- To design and carry out special sensitization and awareness raising programs with the participation of the relevant communities

- to empower communities to design strategies that will enable them to eradicate the practice in their areas appropriate to their particular circumstances

- To seek to strengthen cooperation among the various anti-FGM activists in information exchange and the sharing of resources

- To use experiences and lessons learned from the campaign towards the eradication of other harmful traditions against women

The Watoto Imara project continues to prioritize Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) as a critical component of girls' education and health. Our recent school club sessions, conducted in the Simanjiro district of the Manyara region, provided practical, hands-on demonstrations on the proper usage and management of sanitary products. By equipping young girls with essential hygiene knowledge, this initiative aims to reduce school absenteeism, promote dignity, and foster confidence within the learning environment.

The Watoto Imara project recently facilitated a series of strategic community and school dialogues in the Lorbosoit and Kitwai wards of the Simanjiro district. These sessions were dedicated to advancing girls' protection and support through the application of the "See Me Be Me" model. By engaging directly with parents and local stakeholders, we are strengthening the collaborative frameworks necessary to ensure a secure and supportive environment for all youth. This initiative underscores the importance of community-led advocacy in achieving sustainable safeguarding goals.
