Wrapping up week four: Harnessing the power of Raster Analysis and Interpolation within GIS 🌍✨
We dived deep into how spatial data is represented using grids, unlocking patterns and trends across landscapes, we explored how interpolation bridges data gaps, creating continuous surfaces that guide critical environmental decisions.
From raw data to actionable insights, this week was all about turning complexity into clarity. 🔍💡

We did it! 🎉

It started with a problem…

Morogoro Municipal is growing fast.
So is its waste.

Over 300 tons daily, yet less than half is collected.
Communities struggle. The environment suffers.

After a powerful week at the innovation , we are proud to be among the Innovative Grant Winners 🚀

Thanks to and through the Vijana Plus Project (co-funded by the European Union) for believing in our vision 🤝

♻️ Smart Taka Hub is tackling Morogoro’s waste crisis by:
• Mapping waste with digital tools
• Improving collection systems
• Turning waste into compost & briquettes
• Empowering youth & communities

Because waste is not the end, it's a resource.

🤝 Let’s build cleaner, smarter cities together.

From Tanzania to Bogota

Excited to share that our Managing Director, Erick, is representing and GeoTE Tanzania at the A2D Annual Event (April 13–16, 2026) in Colombia!

At the workshop on “Leveraging Data & GIS to Mitigate Environmental & Social Risks in Demonstration Projects,” Erick is showcasing how GIS and YouthMappers projects are helping shift development approaches from risk to resilience, highlighting the power of GIS and open data in strengthening safeguards and building resilient communities.

A big thank you to the UNIDO - A2D Facilities Annual Event for this opportunity. We are excited about the future connections, collaborations, and opportunities for youth to support development projects in ODA countries.

Learning doesn’t just happen in classrooms — sometimes it happens out in the streets, one photo at a time 📍📱

This field session was all about turning everyday moments into meaningful data. Using just their mobile phones, students explore how tools like Mapillary can help us understand places better, map our environments, and contribute to something bigger than ourselves.
