We are pleased to inform you of the 65th United Nations World Tourism Organization Regional Commission for Africa (UNWTO - CAF) Meeting scheduled to take place on 5th - 6th October, 2022 in Arusha, Tanzania. The meeting will be preceded by an Investment Forum held on 6th October, 2022 at Gran Melia Hotel, Arusha . The forum is jointly organized by Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA) in collaboration with .

The agenda for the meeting was to discuss about Master’s Degree and Internship Program of African Business Education for Youth and agree on a tentative policy for selection on 10th Batch of ABE Initiative and Inform on the Result of 9th Batch of ABE Initiative.

About ABE Initiative:
This was founded during the 5th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), held in Yokohama in 2013, the then prime minister of Japan; Abe Shinzo Announced the “African Business Education Initiative for Youth” (hereafter referred as ABE) initiative). This is a five-year plan providing education opportunity to 1,000 African youths to study at Japanese institutions. Since 2014, 1,400 African youths have joined the program. TPSF paid a visit to one of the business delegates from Tanzania who attended the Tanzania-Oman Business and Investment Forum in Oman, in June 2022. The representative was from Elements Limited, an agribusiness company.

The forum was full of opportunities, according to the company representative; Mr. Henry Muleke who also pointed out that, advertising in the business delegation book was beneficial because it led to contacts with potential business partners for business negotiations. Even after the trip, the Company continued to get business leads and connections from Oman.

Our this week is a group of incredible women who form an organization named TAFOPA, The Tanzanian Food Processors Association of Women Entrepreneurs. TAFOPA is headed by Ms. Suzy Laiser who is also a Board Member of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation ( ).

TAFOPA is an organization whose main aim is to foster Industrialization Agenda by making sure that women are not left behind in economic production especially by adding value to agro- products.

As they say, women should not be left behind in implementing the industrialization agenda.

They provide different training to women SMEs on food processing and securing markets. Some of the products processed by TAFOPA members include pickles, tomato sauces, chill sauces, and nutritious flowers.

TAFOPA signed an Agreement for the Construction of an Industrial Park for the processing of agricultural products for small and medium entrepreneurs in Mbeya.
