Something as natural as menstruation happens in every girl’s life, but without proper management and a period-friendly environment, it can affect her whole life, from her education, health, and confidence to her future.

As you will hear in this video, recorded during the Menstrual Hygiene Day commemoration event organized by SHEEO NGO in Magu District last Thursday, a menstrual health expert highlights the effects of inadequate menstrual hygiene management and the importance of breaking stigma while promoting supportive environments for girls.
What was most notable was the immediate shift among participants. Many were surprised by the realities of poor menstrual hygiene management, gained new awareness, and committed to promoting period-friendly environments in their communities.
At Solidarity for Her Education and Empowerment Organisation - SHEEO Tanzania we are committed to reaching thousands of girls and community members with this vital knowledge, ensuring no girl is left behind because of her period.
We invite partners and stakeholders to join us in breaking stigma and building a future where every girl can thrive with dignity and confidence.

Transformative changes in the community happen when committed and passionate leaders come together to guide and drive these changes.

On 28 May 2026, during the Menstrual Hygiene Day commemoration in Magu District, we witnessed this in action. We were honored to be joined by committed and passionate local government leaders and officials from education, community development, social welfare, and health sectors. With their leadership and expertise, they facilitated meaningful discussions and awareness sessions on key menstrual health topics, sharing accurate information, challenging misconceptions, and reinforcing dignity and well-being for adolescent girls.

What stood out most was the commitment from participants to take these messages beyond the event, into their families and communities, ensuring the change continues to grow far beyond the room.

For SHEEO NGO, this is more than an event. It is progress toward a future where every girl can live with confidence, dignity, and freely pursue education and livelihood opportunities without barriers.

At we believe in community-driven solutions for lasting impact in the communities we operate.
Yesterday’s Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 commemoration was a powerful reminder of what change looks like when young voices are empowered. Students from rural public primary and secondary schools were not just attendees, but courageous voices speaking out against menstrual stigma.
Through poetry, they shared lived realities that deeply moved all participants and sparked reflection on menstrual health, dignity, and the need for a more supportive society for girls. 🌍🩸

As the First Academic Term of 2026 comes to an end, SHEEO NGO is conducting semiannual review meetings with beneficiaries and volunteers of our school-based projects (SHEHA & HRDF) to reflect on project activities implemented from January to May 2026, alongside introductory and preparation meetings for upcoming activities that will resume in early July after the June school holidays.

At , beneficiary engagement in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) processes is central to our approach. It promotes shared ownership, strengthens accountability, and enhances the overall impact of our programs.

We also introduce upcoming activities early to help beneficiaries prepare mentally and emotionally, build confidence, and actively participate from the very beginning of the new term.

We remain grateful for the support from .ngo and for making these impactful initiatives possible. Their support continues to contribute to a brighter and more empowered future for our beneficiaries.

Hunger remains one of the pressing barriers affecting many students’ education, especially girls in the communities where SHEEO NGO Tanzania operates.
In many vulnerable households, girls are more affected by food insecurity due to unequal access to basic needs and gender-related responsibilities, increasing their risk of poor concentration in class, absenteeism, low academic performance, and ultimately school dropout.

In response to this pressing challenge, through the Supporting Her Education for Her Autonomy (SHEHA) Project, provides food support by contributing daily meals at school to vulnerable girl students to improve concentration, attendance, wellbeing, and overall learning outcomes.

In some circumstances, we respond flexibly by extending the same support directly to beneficiaries’ homes to ensure their wellbeing, protection, and continuity of care.

This support reflects our continued commitment to reaching vulnerable girls with compassion, dignity, and practical solutions that strengthen both their wellbeing and education journey.

We sincerely thank the .ngo for making this initiative possible through their generous support to the SHEHA Project.
