The Tanzania Union of Government and Health Employees (TUGHE) has joined global Stakeholders at the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), which commenced on June 1, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland.

TUGHE delegation is led by National Chairperson Comrade Joel Kaminyoge accompanied by the Union’s General Secretary, Comrade Hery Mkunda, who also serves as the Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA).

The conference has brought together International Labour Organization (ILO) tripartite representatives comprising Governments, Employers and Trade unions from its 187 Member States.

These Stakeholders are currently deliberating on critical issues shaping the global workforce, including, Decent Work, Gender Equality and Tripartite Cooperation.

As an active Member State of the ILO, the United Republic of Tanzania delegation is being led by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Labour, Employment and Relations, Honorable Deus Sangu (MP).

Watumishi wa Ofisi ya TUGHE Makao Makuu Dodoma wakiongozwa na Naibu Katibu Mkuu ( Afya) Cde. Rugemalira Rutatina wameandaa tafrija fupi ya kumpongeza Mtumishi wa TUGHE anayetarajia kustaafu kwa mujibu wa sheria Cde. Siriyako Charle.

Tafrija hiyo fupi imefanyika leo Jumatatu tarehe 1 Juni 2026 katika Ofisi za TUGHE Makao Makuu DODOMA ambapo imehudhuriwa na Watumishi wa Ofisi hiyo pamoja na Watumishi wenzake waliokuwa wakifanya kazi pamoja katika Ofisi ya TUGHE Mkoa wa Dodoma lengo likiwa ni kumpongeza na Kumtakia heri mtumishi mwenzao ambaye amekitumikia Chama kwa muda mrefu hadi alipofikis muda wa kustaafu.

The Tanzania Union of Government and Health Employees (TUGHE) joined key stakeholders in a two-day Policy Dialogue on the Tax Incentive Management Framework in Tanzania, which was held in Dodoma from 21–22 May 2026. The dialogue, organised by Public Services International and FES Tanzania, brought together labour leaders, policymakers, tax experts, and civil society representatives to discuss tax justice and sustainable public financing in Tanzania.

One of the major highlights of the event was the launch of the publication titled *“A Progressive Tax System to Fund a Fair Future: The Case for a Wealth Tax in Tanzania”* by Balozi Morwa Mollel. The report advocated for a fairer and more progressive tax system in which wealth contributed more significantly to national development and the improvement of public services.

During the discussions, trade unions expressed concern over the continued granting of tax exemptions without a strong accountability framework. Participants called for a transparent and well-regulated tax incentives system with clear limitations, proper cost-benefit analysis, and mechanisms to guarantee technology and knowledge transfer.

They emphasized that Tanzania’s tax policies needed to ensure the country’s resources and incentives delivered meaningful benefits to its citizens and supported inclusive national development.
