The Afyaplus Board of Directors visited the recently implemented Mangalali Water Supply Project to see firsthand the infrastructure supporting improved access to clean and reliable water in the community.
The project responds to critical infrastructure gaps in Tanzania. While 2025 national data reported basic water supply access at 92.5% in urban areas and 85.2% in rural areas, access to water at the national level does not always translate into reliable and safe water at household level. Effective infrastructure including pumping systems, treatment facilities, storage tanks, and distribution networks is essential to deliver safe and reliable water to communities.
The visit covered key components of the project, including the borehole site, pump house, water tanks, and water distribution infrastructure. It provided an opportunity for the Board to appreciate the progress made and the project's contribution to the Mangalali community.
The visit concluded at the Afyaplus Iringa Office, where the Board connected with staff and learned more about ongoing office activities and program implementation.
