Message from Comparatively for Tanzania Elites Community Organizers (CTECO) Directors:
Celebrating World Children’s Day: A Call to Action
On this special World Children’s Day, we, at Comparatively for Tanzania Elites Community Organizers (CTECO), extend our heartfelt greetings to all the children and stakeholders in Tanzania. Today, as we reflect on the strides made in ensuring the safety and rights of our children, we also recognize the prevailing issues of Violence Against Children (VAC) in schools and our communities where we operate and live in.
Empowering Children: Tanzania’s Commitment
Tanzania stands tall in East Africa for giving children a platform to express their opinions, right from the village level to the national stage "bottom down, bottom up vise vasa children councils leadership". The United Republic of Tanzania, has set a remarkable example, showcasing that when children are heard, their voices bring about meaningful change. This empowerment is crucial in creating a safe and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Addressing Violence Against Children
Despite these achievements, the reality of violence in schools and our communities, still remains a pressing concern. As CTECO, we are committed to strengthening children councils and child protection desks both in and out of schools. We believe that every child deserves a safe space to learn, grow, and express themselves freely, without fear of violence or abuse.
A Call to Other Countries: Learn from Tanzania
We call upon our neighboring countries to learn from Tanzania’s example. By creating platforms where children can voice their concerns and participate in decision-making processes, we can collectively work towards a future where every child’s rights are respected and upheld.
Join Hands: Bridging the Gaps
To our dedicated stakeholders—government officials, educators, parents, and community leaders—we urge you to join hands with us. While the government is striving to fill the gaps in child protection, we must all come together to ensure that no child is left behind. Your involvement and support are crucial in reaching out to all children, providing them with the protection and opportunities they need to flourish.
A Shared Responsibility
As we celebrate World Children’s Day, let us remember that protecting our children is a shared responsibility. By working together, we can create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all our children. Let’s commit to making a difference, one step at a time, to end violence against children and build a brighter future for Tanzania’s next generation.
