Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (TAWESO) Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (TAWESO) is a registered non-profit organization that works to improve the welfare of all animals in Tanzania. FRIENDS!

Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (TAWESO) is an all volunteer organization that works to help suffering animals in Tanzania under the following programs:
1. Veterinary Outreach clinics
2. Community Animal Hospital
3. Welfare of animals in Markets ,Transports and Abattoirs
4. Working Donkey Welfare
5. Policy and Advocacy
6. Humane Education in Primary schools and Communities and
7. Emergency rel

ief services

Animal welfare in general is still not a priority to most of the communities as they are faced with many other life challenges, such as street children, extreme poverty hunger and climate changes. Thus, people have less empathy for animals, which are often undernourished, affected by parasitic diseases, tortured and killed or (overworked, overloaded, working without harnesses) when it comes to working animals. The current state of animal welfare in the country need attention and a long-term, sustainable solution. TAWESO operates in many parts of the country in the Coast, Central, Southern and Lake zones

World Rabies Day 2025

This year’s theme “Act Now: You, Me Community”, invites us to take individual and collective steps to stop the spread of dog-mediated rabies. These include responsible dog ownership, organising rabies education events and participating in rabies vaccine campaigns.
With a fatality rate of almost 100% once symptoms appear, rabies remains one of the deadliest zoonoses, killing nearly 59, 000 people every year.
We are doing mass vaccination again Rabies to dogs and cats, spay/neuter, education to communities, we have a week long activities up to the World Animal Day on the 4th of October, 2025.
Many thanks to SPCA International for helping this programme.
