The Trust is led by a comitee of five board members from different contexts, that meet up once a month and make decisions together.

Established in 1992, the Dogodogo Centre Street Children Trust was created in response to the growing number of vulnerable children living and working on the streets of Dar es Salaam. Some had run away from home because of poverty and/or child abuse, some were running towards a better future. Taking a holistic approach to children’s needs, the Trust seeks to provide emergency services to street children and reunification to those who want, promote justice and overcome the poverty and exclusion of some of Tanzania’s least visible children – that is, children living and working on the streets and without parental care and support. In the last 22 years more than 4,500 children benefited from the center’s services including medical, education and vocational training. In addition to helping 500 children to return to their families or to emigrate into the wider community, the enter also seeks to protect the children’s basic rights. The Trust served on a government-led steering committee to promote policy development on issues affecting vulnerable children and pioneered the Tanzania Child Rights Forum (TCRF) of which Dogodogo is the current Chair. Dogodogo works closely with other likeminded organizations that work for the best interest of children both national and international like UNICEF, Save the Children, Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC-Africa) and Plan International. Dogodogo is also a member of Implementers Partners Group (IPG) that meets monthly to share ideas and new developments, progress and challenges on matters regarding children, and also a member of Children Agenda (CA) and forms part of the CA Advocacy Task Force.
