Tanzania NCD Alliance is working to prevent noncommunicable diseases and to improve the welfare of Tanzanians already suffering from NCDs. Key elements of TANCDAโ€™s work is political advocacy, health screenings, outreach activities, educational training, patient support and mass media coverage. Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are also known as chronic or lifestyle diseases. Therefore, TANCDA focus

on making the general public aware of the consequences NCDs give rise to and encourage individuals to adapt healthy lifestyles, so as to prevent them from developing NCDs such as cancer, diabetes, respiratory or cardiovascular diseases. At the same time TANCDA does political advocacy, reminding diverse stakeholders across all sectors of society that the growing magnitude of NCDs must be acted upon, based on global and national action plans. TANCDA has its headquarter in Dar es Salaam, but branches of voluntary staff throughout the country work according to the same objectives in direct interaction with local communities. Day 3 at the 14th MUHAS Scientific Conference 2026 and what a journey it has been! ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ’™
Three days. Hundreds of conversations. Countless connections.
The voices of people living with NCDs in Tanzania will be heard. ๐Ÿ“ฃ
From Day 1's incredible visit by our Guest of Honour Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda, Minister for Education, Science and Technology, to the researchers who stopped to engage, the clinicians, the policymakers who took our materials and promised to act, every single moment of these three days has reminded us exactly why TANCDA exists and why this work cannot wait.

Behind every movement, there is a champion. Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate ours. ๐ŸŒŸ
Meet Ms. Arafa Said, TANCDA's fearless advocate, our voice in the room and the beating heart of everything we stand for at the 14th MUHAS Scientific Conference 2026

Ms. Arafa stood tall, welcoming researchers, engaging clinicians, policymakers and ensuring that the voices of people living with NCDs in Tanzania are heard
This is what the Tanzania NCD Alliance looks like in action. Not just reports and policy briefs but real people, with real commitment, showing up for their community when it matters most.
Ms. Arafa, TANCDA and every person living with an NCD in Tanzania sees you, celebrates you and is deeply grateful for you.
The work continues. And with champions like you, we know it is in the very best hands

HIighlight of our day ๐ŸŒŸ
We were deeply honoured to welcome the Guest of Honour, Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda, Minister for Education, Science and Technology to the TANCDA booth. The Minister took time to engage with our work, learn about the challenges facing people living with NCDs across Tanzania and hear directly from our team about TANCDA's programs, advocacy and the key calls of our community.
He congratulated TANCDA for the important work being done and that recognition, coming from the highest level of government, means the world to our team and to every person living with an NCD we represent. ๐Ÿ™
Day 2 starts tomorrow. We will be at our booth all day. Come find us - let's keep this conversation going.
