SOS Finland Delegation Commends Partnership Impact in Tanzania.
SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania, in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Finland and supported by Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA), conducted a monitoring mission from 4th to 8th May 2026 in Iringa, Kilolo, Mufindi, and Dar es Salaam to assess the impact of their nine-year partnership supporting vulnerable children, adolescents, young mothers, and communities.
The delegation, led by Mari Ahlström, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages Finland, met with SOS staff, government leaders, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to review achievements and strengthen future collaboration.
SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania highlighted key achievements since 2017, including strengthened child protection systems, improved adolescent sexual and reproductive health services, education support, and livelihood improvement for vulnerable families.
Mari Ahlström praised the commitment shown by communities, local authorities, and SOS staff, noting that sustainable partnerships continue to create lasting change for children and families.
The National Director for SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania, Thomas Kipingili, said the collaboration has significantly improved the welfare of vulnerable children and families while creating hope and opportunities for a better future.
In Kilolo and Mufindi, beneficiaries shared testimonies on improved livelihoods, economic empowerment, and stronger child protection mechanisms. The delegation also visited Changalawe Secondary School to observe Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) interventions and Rungemba Community Development College, where adolescent mothers receive tailoring training and engage in income-generating activities.
The delegation further visited SHIVYAWATA to discuss inclusive programming for children and youth with disabilities.
The mission concluded in Dar es Salaam with a debriefing session, where both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable children and families across Tanzania.
