Kite Dar es Salaam

Kite Dar es Salaam KITE Dar es Salaam is a youth-led organization that aims to identify tangible ways in which students can make a difference in the world.

Formerly the Tanzanian branch of Cambridge Development Initiative (CDI), Kite Dar es Salaam was registered as an independent NGO in 2017 to enable the partnership to match the impressive growth of its projects, and to promote its work to a greater extent in Dar es Salaam. Each year, approximately 30 volunteers from Dar es Salaam's universities are joined by 30 volunteers from the University of Cam

bridge to work full-time on our four projects. They undergo a comprehensive training programme, and meet weekly to plan collaboratively for the summer implementation. At the end of the university year, the two organisations work together for two months in Tanzania. During this period, our Tanzanian-UK project teams carry out an immersive mixture of project implementation, key partner meetings, government engagement and impact evaluation. As well as continuing its close relationship with CDI, Kite Dar es Salaam will join existing organisations in Oxford, UK; Vancouver, Canada; Harvard, USA; and Lima, Peru. This will enable the sharing of resources and ideas, and create a network of support between students across the world, who are all aiming to change the way student volunteering is done.
