“HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN ENVIED?”

When the people had gathered, Pilate asked them all, “Whom do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Christ?”

(Pilate had asked this because he knew that Jesus had been handed over out of pure envy and because, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, he had received a message from his wife saying,
“Have nothing to do with that innocent man, for last night I had a horrible dream about him.”)
(Matthew 27:18-19)

The patriarchs, overcome by intense envy of Joseph, sold him into slavery in Egypt.

Despite everything, God was with him and
delivered him from all his tribulations, giving Joseph favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt and all his palace.
(Acts 7:9-10)

Envy arises in two ways: it can be born naturally in someone or it can be provoked.

You yourself provoke envy in someone by demonstrating your happiness!

It's important to understand that an envious person doesn't want to have something similar to what you have; they don't even want to have what you have (that would be covetousness).

They want you to lose what you have because they don't have it.

There's no specific reason for someone to be envious of you, but envy is usually linked to your happiness.
