The Yatima Group Trust Fund (YGTF) IS A Non-Governmental organization that was established to provide parental care and assistance to poor and needy children (ie. Orphans) in Dar-es salaam Regional- Tanzania
The YGTF was officially registered under the trustees Incorporation Ordinance (Cap. 375) on 7th march 2001 and given a license to operate a children home (Centre) on 1st Jan 2002. This orphana
ge is under the patron of Retired President of Tanzania Hon.Ally Hassan Mwinyi. The YGFT was initially opened to take care of 50 children, but due to the level of cases of Orphans id Dar-es salaam, the number of orphans has increased to 148. The centre expect to register more orphans in the coming months. It must be noted that, many of those children at the centre are those who lost their parents from AIDS/HIV cases. The centre is obligated to carry out the following objectives:-
(i) To provide parental care to the orphans
(ii) To provide food and accommodation to Orphans
(iii) To provide medical Treatment and Nursing home. (iv) To create and sensitize the general public awareness on the need to help the affected children. (v) To liaise with other Orphanage centre on matters to improve the well being of the orphans etc.
➞ 1.1 THE ADMINISTRATION. As started above, the patron of YGTF is the retired President of Tanzania, Hon. The day to day operations is administered by the group of registered
Trustees who are Mrs .Winifrida Lubanza (Chairperson), Mr. All Mattewele (Secretary) and Mr. Haruna Mtandika (Treasurer). Another member of Trustee is American Citizen Mr. James K. Lace who also contributed in financial support to the inauguration of YGTF. The YGTF, with current number of 148 Orphans have also employed several staffs to assist the Orphans in preparation of food, cleaning affairs and security.
➞ 1.2 THE REQUIRED SUPPORT
In order to enable the centre to fulfill its objectives and obligations, the assistance is requested from the public Institution, private entities, General public and Donors etc. to assist the centre in financial and material support.
➞ 1.3 THE PLAN 2009/2010
A. The current plan of the YGTF is to construct a fence around the area of 30 acres at Chamazi. The area has been given and secured to construct an an Orphanage centre at a costs of Tshs 200.8 M. To expand the land by buying the land next to the orphanage for the purpose of conducting Agriculture projects. C. To create the YGTF website and to get sponsor to pay for it, so that the rest of the world get to know about us.
➞ 1.1 CHALLENGES
1) Provision of sufficient and balanced diet (food) to the children
2) Provision of school fees (tuition fees) for secondary school children.
3) Administration cost for running the orphanage as whole.
4) poor network of sponsors especially out of Tanzania due to poor communication and self advertising.
➞ 1.5 CONCLUTION
The task to take care of orphans very important, especially on the basis of social security to Tanzanians. The YGTF expects to get assistance from entity to help those unprivileged and poor children. WINIFRIDA LUBANZA
