Our Team makes sure all samples are well labelled and gloves were worn to protect samples from contamination ... aluminium foil help keeps samples in the dark, minimizing any chance for carbon to spoil.. the ice in the cool box keeps it alive .. Blue Carbon Tanzania is leading the way .

You wonder why it is called a "blue" carbon ?
Is it really blue ?

Put in the comment below why you think that is, the winner with the best answer will be announced and allowed a chance to learn more with us..

Thanks to the team led by Ezekiel Odiamehi and Nelly Chelangat from Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH , advised by PD Dr Tim Jennerjahn through our CommBlue project ..

Collecting Blue Carbon
For high resolution results close to reality, you need technical skills and cooperation with the local guide.

Ezekiel and Nelly in cooperation with our BCT team still got it.. they lead the process so well: 1. samples are pulled off using the corer that dig into the ground to get one Meter soil profile 1. subsample at the interval of 5 cm. 3. Scoop samples using clean spoon 4. Store in aluminium foil and in a cool box containing ice.. 5. Transport for analysis ..

BCT through CommBlue project is leading the way to produce high quality carbon data, with a mission to cover the whole of Tanzania coastline ..

Thanks to the Team and our Local guide for the good team work..

BCT is pleased to host two very brilliant scholars Ezekiel Odiamehi (first on the right) and Nelly Chelangat (in the middle) from the University of Bremen as part of the CommBlue Project implemented in collaboration with the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH under PD Tim Jennerjahn and University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) through Prof. Dr. PROSPER MFILINGE.
They will build up on the previous work done by our Director Msc. Debora Benjamen while at ZMT, sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The researchers will use high quality blue carbon protocol to get best samples for analysis in Germany, and contribute to knowledge on blue carbon stocks, dynamic, nutrients flows and identify sources and sinks (allochthonous and autochthonous carbons) to support future management efforts in Tanzania. Stay tuned.

Happy Easter to you all who are celebrating 🐣🎉
