Meet Upendo Stanslaus Antony and Hadija Bakari Mwalyego from Wama Sharaf Secondary School, who are developing their project: "Nature's Glow: Assessing the Dermatological Potential of Home-Extracted Groundnut Oil for Acne Management".
Their study investigates the dermatological potential of traditionally extracted groundnut oil as a natural and affordable remedy for acne and skin dehydration. Using a two-week cold-sedimentation extraction process, the students evaluated the oil's ability to nourish the skin, improve hydration, and reduce pimples when applied topically daily. By integrating traditional knowledge with scientific investigation, the project highlights how locally available natural resources can contribute to sustainable and cost-effective skincare solutions for communities.
Through creativity, scientific research, and practical innovation, these students are demonstrating how natural resources can be harnessed to address everyday health and wellness challenges.
We are proud to see young scientists using science to improve lives and promote sustainable solutions!
