Quick question: When you think of the Indian Ocean along Tanzania’s coast, what comes to mind first…Zanzibar, seafood, biashara, beach holidays… or plastic pollution?

For Tanzania, the Indian Ocean is more than a postcard view. It supports livelihoods, tourism, trade, food, culture, and protects the coastlines through mangroves, coral reefs and seagrass.

This Tell us:
🌊 What’s one thing you love most about the ocean in Tanzania?

Limiting overshoot requires nearly halving emissions by 2035.

The scale of the challenge is enormous, but so is the global response already taking shape.

Across sectors - from energy, to buildings, transport, industry, and agriculture and forestry, action is already scaling around the world.

From solar and wind overtaking coal in some markets to the economic opportunities unlocked through climate resilience, the transition is no longer theoretical.

Now is the time for speed and scale

Unpaid care work is work.

Tanzania’s dialogue on unpaid care, disability inclusion and gender-transformative approaches is helping move care from the margins to the centre of development planning.

Stronger care systems can reduce barriers for women and persons with disabilities, support participation in education and work, and strengthen more inclusive communities.

Care is not only a household issue. It is a development issue.
