*Advance fistula surgery workshop.*
Birth injuries, particularly complex injuries, remain a significant challenge in management. To ensure women receive the best possible care regardless of injury severity, an advanced/specialized workshop is convened to strengthen the surgical capacity of fistula surgeons in Tanzania and Zambia.

The workshop is facilitated by Professor Fekade, a consultant urogynecologist and fistula surgeon from Ethiopia, renowned for his expertise in managing complex fistula cases. A total of 11 surgeons participated—nine from Tanzania and two from Zambia.
Through hands-on surgical training, participants are expected to gain advanced skills in managing complex birth injuries. The program is emphasizing patient-centered care and regional collaboration.

This initiative marks a critical step in building sustainable expertise in fistula surgery across the region, ensuring that more women receive timely and effective treatment

Uelekeo wa maisha ya sai ulibadilika baada ya kujifungua, sai amezaa watoto watano mtoto wake wa mwisho alizaliwa mwaka 2014. Wakati wa kujifungua, alipata uchungu kwa siku mbili na kupelekwa katika zahanati ya Karibu uchungu uliendelea na hatimaye alipoteza fahamu. Alipatiwa rufaa kwenda Hospitali ya wilaya ambako alifanyiwa upasuaji. Kwa bahati mbaya, alimpoteza mtoto wake, na baada ya siku chache alianza kutoka na mkojo bila kujizuia.
Alijaribu kutafuta matibabu mara saba, lakini hakupata nafuu. Alipitia mateso mengi kutokana na hali hiyo. Mama mkwe wake na mke wa kwanza wa mume wake walikuwa wakimsema vibaya. Majirani walimdharau walipomuona walimtazama alama za mkojo miguuni na kutema mate chini. Hali hiyo ilimfanya asiweze kuchangamana na watu, kushiriki shughuli za kijamii k**a kuhudhuria misiba.
Sai alipatiwa matibabu ya fistula katika kambi ya fistula mkoani Katavi mwezi Agosti, 2025 na Chama cha Madakatri wa Upasuaji wa Fistula Tanzania kwa msaada wa Fistula Foundation, baada ya kupona, Sai anasema atatembea kwa kujiamini katika jamii yake. Atajivunia na kuwaambia watu wote kwamba amepona. Anaishukuru sana timu ya madaktari na wafadhili kwa kumsaidia na Fistula Foundation kwakumusaidia.

The Fistula Foundation Treatment Network in Tanzania staff Clement Ndahani and Bwalya magawa chomba together with the Fistula Focal point person from Ministry of Health Fidea Obimbo undertook a monitoring supportive visit to Katavi Regional Hospital in Mpanda where the Association of Obstetric Fistula Surgeons of Tanzania were conducting a free life transforming fistula surgery for more than 35 women and along the way visited Maweni Regional Hospital and Kasuru Town Council Hospital in Kigoma Region.
