Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms shaping a better future.

Behind every program, every community impact, and every bold decision, there are women balancing leadership and motherhood with strength and purpose.

This Mother’s Day, CARE Tanzania celebrates mothers who are not only raising families but also building stronger communities, empowering women and youth, and driving lasting change every day.

This week in Iringa, CARE Tanzania brought together the Advisory Board Council (Dr. Anthony Mveyange, Dr. Catherine Masao, Mwatima Juma, and Catherinerose Barretto), CARE East and Southern Africa Regional Director (Mr. Walter Mwasaa); The Executive Team, Government staff, and program staff to reflect on progress, share lessons, and discuss the future of our work.

The engagement began with a field visit to the Shamba Darasa Imara na Ustadi project potato demo plot in Lusinga Village, where participants joined community members in harvesting potatoes and shared locally prepared nutritious foods made from soy, including porridge and buns. Later on participants heard firsthand testimonies on how CARE-supported initiatives are improving nutrition, strengthening household decision-making, and creating better economic opportunities for families.

The indoor sessions' discussions that followed focused on reviewing achievements, reflecting on lessons learned, identifying gaps and emerging challenges, and exploring ways to strengthen collaboration and improve impact.

Mbeya Region hosted the Wakulima Festival, bringing together farmers, agribusiness actors, and key stakeholders across the agricultural sector.

Through the Her Money Her Life Project in Mbeya and Njombe, CARE Tanzania supported the participation of our project participants from Rungwe, Busokelo, and Njombe DC.

The festival provided a valuable platform for our participants to showcase their products, exchange knowledge, connect with potential buyers and partners, and explore new market opportunities that can improve household incomes and resilience.

For CARE Tanzania, participation in the festival reflects our commitment to strengthening women’s economic independence by creating opportunities for smallholder farmers and VSLA members to access markets, expand business networks, and gain exposure to innovative agricultural practices.

By supporting spaces that link communities to wider economic opportunities, CARE continues to contribute to support stronger livelihood, food security, and sustainable local economic development.

Many young people are already running businesses. The real challenge is not ideas; it’s access to the right knowledge and tools to grow.

Through the Ujana Wangu, Tunu Yangu project supported by Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (PMIEF), CARE Tanzania recently provided targeted business equipment to youth entrepreneurs in Dar es Salaam (Ilala and Temeke districts), based on their actual business needs. This was not a general distribution; it was focused support to remove specific barriers to growth.

With the right tools and knowledge, these businesses can:

1️⃣ Increase production
2️⃣ Improve quality of goods and services
3️⃣ Serve more customers and generate more income

Project management knowledge will continue to play a key role as these young entrepreneurs grow by helping them manage costs, reduce risks, stay organized, and scale their operations in a structured way.

Youth will always remain a key focus for CARE Tanzania because when young entrepreneurs grow, the impact goes beyond the individual; it strengthens households and local economies.

Today, we honour the contribution of workers everywhere. We also recognize the communities we work alongside—our staff, farmers, entrepreneurs, and change-makers—whose resilience and dedication continue to inspire and drive our work every day.

Happy Workers’ Day.

If we make markets work for women through savings, financial products for women, and corporate social sustainability strategies, then families and whole communities thrive.

Celebrating 62 Years of the and Union

For over six decades, unity has been our strength and our foundation. At CARE Tanzania, we carry this legacy forward by working alongside communities to build a future where and lead, families thrive, and resilience grows.

Because the Union is not just history; it is lived every day through dignity, equality, and opportunity for all.

CARE Tanzania has formalized a strategic partnership with CHOMOKA Social Venture, led by Mr. Steven Milambo, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to enhance the efficiency, reach, and sustainability of services delivered to the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) groups.

The partnership will work closely with Tija Hub, CARE Tanzania’s social enterprise, to make it easier for more people to access better, practical, and affordable social services.

We look forward to working together to deliver meaningful impact and improve access to services for communities across Tanzania.

This is why Farmers' Field Days matter to us.

At CARE Tanzania, we believe real change happens when smallholder farmers learn by doing, share knowledge with one another, and connect to the opportunities around them. To us, Farmers' Field Days are not just events—they are dynamic platforms where farmers gain practical skills, discover new and emerging innovations and technologies, and draw inspiration from their peers.

These moments of exchange and learning are what drive resilient livelihoods and stronger, more connected communities.
