FROM ARTISAN TO LEADER - Meet Foibe.✨
Foibe joined WomenCraft in 2013, when she was just 19 years old. She already knew how to weave, having learned alongside her mother, but when she first joined the organisation she was placed in the kitchen.
It quickly became clear that her strengths lay elsewhere. In 2014, following a team reorganisation, Foibe stepped into a production leadership role and began a journey that has continued to grow ever since.
Today, she leads WomenCraft’s Ngara office and plays a central role across production. She coordinates orders across artisan groups, oversees quality control and stock, supports product development, works closely with the artisan advisory committees and regularly visits the groups to keep communication flowing between the artisans and the wider WomenCraft team.
Her greatest strength is her ability to connect these different worlds: she understands the craft, the culture and the realities of the artisan communities, while also managing the systems and responsibilities needed to keep production moving.
Foibe’s story is one of the many ways we measure impact: not only through income, but through skills developed, responsibilities earned and women growing into leadership.
