Change is part of staying effective.

After a period of reflection and consultation, Twaweza East Africa has undertaken organisational changes to strengthen our focus and long-term impact.

Our commitment remains the same: strengthening citizen voice and supporting meaningful citizen–government relations across East Africa.

Online violence is real, and it is growing. More than one in three women have experienced it, and too often, the response is silence.

Silence protects perpetrators. Accountability protects women.

It is time to take online violence seriously.

Throwback to our ED’s reflection at the OGP Summit, a reminder of the power young people hold in shaping democracy.

"Young people don't just know their challenges, their concerns, and the issues that affect them; they will actually be the primary drivers of solutions to those challenges. We need to be able to work with young people, not just to understand them but actually to give them the space to create and drive the changes that they think are so important in their lives."

Young people aren’t just the future. They’re leading now. 🙌🏾✨

We join all Tanzanians in mourning the innocent lives of people lost in the post-election violence. Our hearts go out to all families grieving their sons, daughters, fathers, mothers and friends whose lives were brutally cut short by the indiscriminate violence.

These were citizens of with hopes, dreams, and working hard to build a better future. Our hearts are with all Tanzanians who are grieving, struggling, and hoping for healing. 💔🇹🇿
