Meet Grace, a cancer survivor who was diagnosed with breast cancer early, but because of financial challenges and relying on traditional medicine for three years, she was unable to access the quality treatment she needed. As the disease progressed, her ni**le detached and her breast was severely destroyed before she finally received the support that enabled her to begin proper cancer treatment.

Her story is a powerful reminder that early diagnosis alone is not enough. Timely access to quality treatment, financial support, and accurate health information can save lives.

Kutana na Shujaa Grace Chidiebube, ambaye aligundulika na saratani mwaka 2018, lakini kutokana na changamoto mbalimbali hakuweza kuanza matibabu rasmi hadi mwaka 2025.

Katika siku ya pili ya ziara yetu, Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa Shujaa Cancer Foundation, Bi. Gloria Kida, aliambatana na Bi. Gega, Afisa wa Mradi wa East Africa Comprehensive Women Cancer Project (EACWCP) unaotekelezwa na Aga Khan Foundation Tanzania katika mikoa sita ya Tanzania Bara na Zanzibar.

Ziara hiyo ni sehemu ya hatua za Aga Khan Foundation Tanzania za kujifunza na kuimarisha ushirikiano na vikundi vya mashujaa wa saratani, kwa lengo la kutambua namna bora ya kuviunga mkono katika kujenga ustawi na uimara wao.

Katika mkutano uliofanyika na Mashujaa wa Saratani wa Moshi, Bi. Gega alieleza malengo ya mradi na kusisitiza umuhimu wa kuundwa kwa kikundi rasmi cha Mashujaa chenye mfuko wa pamoja utakaowawezesha wanachama kusaidiana, kuimarisha mshik**ano, kubadilishana uzoefu na kujenga msingi imara wa maendeleo endelevu.

Mkutano huo umefanyika leo katika Hospitali ya Rufaa ya Kanda ya Kaskazini ya Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC), Moshi, ukiwa sehemu ya juhudi za kuimarisha ushirikiano kati ya Aga Khan Foundation Tanzania, Shujaa Cancer Foundation na vikundi vya mashujaa wa saratani.

Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa Shujaa Cancer Foundation alipata fursa ya kutembelea Kitengo cha Saratani katika Hospitali ya Mount Meru na kufanya mazungumzo na madaktari bingwa wa saratani, Dkt. Aisha Ramadhani na Dkt. Adel Sweke.

Ziara hii ni sehemu ya juhudi za SCF za kujenga na kuimarisha ushirikiano na watoa huduma za afya ili kuhakikisha wagonjwa na mashujaa wa saratani wanapata elimu sahihi, faraja, matumaini na huduma jumuishi.

Kupitia ushirikiano huu, Kundi la Mashujaa wa Arusha, kwa kushirikiana na Kitengo cha Saratani cha Hospitali ya Mount Meru, litatoa huduma za elimu, msaada wa kisaikolojia na faraja kwa wagonjwa wa saratani, kwa lengo la kuhakikisha hakuna anayepitia safari ya saratani akiwa peke yake.
