Books open doors to imagination, knowledge, and opportunity. This World Book Day, the Karimjee Foundation celebrates the power of reading to shape confident learners and stronger communities. Through our partnership with Read Tanzania, we support access to books, libraries, and learning resources that help students across Tanzania develop a lifelong love for reading. Every book placed in a child’s hands is an investment in education, curiosity, and a brighter future.

This Earth Day, the conversation moves from promises to people. Under the global theme Our Power, Our Planet, we are reminded that real climate action begins with participation. Through the Karimjee and Glasgow Scholarship, the Karimjee Foundation is investing in Tanzanian conservation leaders who are protecting ecosystems, advancing research, and driving solutions rooted in local knowledge. When we empower people with education, skills, and opportunity, we strengthen our collective ability to protect the planet we all share. Our power lies in action. Our planet depends on it.

Medicinal and aromatic plants are more than natural resources. They are the foundation of health, heritage, and livelihoods across Africa. This World Wildlife Day, we spotlight one of our alumni from the Karimjee Foundation and University of Glasgow MSc programme in Conservation Management of African Ecosystems, whose work in plant conservation shows how education can safeguard nature for generations to come.

In Memory of Dr. Jane Goodall (1934–2025)

Today, we say goodbye to not only a global icon but also a true friend of the Karimjee Foundation. Dame Jane Goodall’s passing leaves us with immense sorrow, but also with gratitude for the extraordinary life she lived.

Jane was more than a pioneer in science and conservation. She was a light. Her relentless vision, her boundless compassion, and her belief that every individual can make a difference have touched our work, our people, and our country in profound ways.

For over 70 years, she inspired the world to look at nature not as something separate, but as part of who we are. She showed us the power of hope, the importance of action, and the beauty of empathy.

We will remember her laughter, her wisdom, and her unwavering passion for protecting life in all its forms. Though the world has lost a giant, her spirit will live on in the forests she fought to preserve, in the generations she inspired, and most of all, in her life’s work with the chimpanzees she so dearly loved.

We celebrate the life of Jane Goodall, our friend, our teacher, and a visionary force for good.

Rest in peace, Jane. 🕊️💚
