Powering Data, Strengthening Care.

Reliable electricity is the backbone of quality digital health services. Through support from the CDC, MDH has installed solar power systems at health facilities across Kagera, ensuring uninterrupted power for computers, servers, networking equipment, and other essential systems that support HIV Care and Treatment Clinic (CTC) services.

With consistent power, health care providers can seamlessly use the CTC2 Database to register laboratory requests, capture patient information, manage pharmacy and HTS data, synchronise records with national systems (MACRO3, CTCA, and BRA), and submit timely, accurate reports. The solar systems minimise downtime from power outages, safeguard electronic health records, and improve the availability of high-quality data for patient care and decision-making.

During a supportive supervision visit, Dr Lameck Machumi, MDH Director of Strategic Information, assessed both the performance of the solar-powered digital infrastructure and the competency of Government health care providers in using the CTC2 system. The mentorship reinforced best practices in data management while demonstrating how reliable energy is enabling facilities to independently manage routine electronic data entry and reporting.

Together, MDH, CDC, the Wizara ya Afya, RCHMT/C/HMT, and frontline health care providers are building resilient, sustainable health systems, where clean energy powers quality data, and quality data powers better health outcomes.
