The successful conclusion of today's online training for law enforcement agencies in Tabora and Shinyanga represents a vital step forward in enhancing professional capacity and service delivery within the two regions. Throughout this focused programme, participants demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and engaging with critical modules on modern Investigation and Prosecution techniques, human rights standards, community engagement, and ethical conduct.
The interactive sessions provided a crucial platform for officers to refine their practical skills, share cross-jurisdictional experiences, and build a cohesive network dedicated to principled and effective law enforcement. This newly strengthened professional bond is expected to foster continued collaboration and the consistent application of best practices across Shinyanga and Tabora.
The active participation and insightful discourse observed throughout the training underscore a shared dedication to upholding the rule of law with integrity and building greater public trust. We are confident that the officers will effectively apply the acquired knowledge and strategies to improve safety, security, and justice in their communities.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the facilitators, partner institutions, and all the dedicated officers whose participation made this initiative a success. This training reaffirms our collective commitment to a professionalized, accountable, and community-oriented police service. We look forward to the positive impact of this capacity-building effort on the peace and security of the regions.

To close the year, Tanzania Relief Initiatives in collaboration with our Partner Hanns Sediel Foundation (HSF) hosted a virtual training for journalists across five regions—Tabora, Shinyanga, Tanga, Mbeya, and Dar es Salaam.

We equipped them with knowledge to better understand and report on human trafficking, aiming to enhance coverage that leads to prosecution and dismantles criminal networks.

Strong journalism is key to fighting TIP.

Our 2024/2025 TIP Report revealed critical systemic gaps, including uncoordinated law enforcement operations and a failure to effectively investigate and prosecute high-level trafficking criminals. In direct response, TRI and TANAHUT have launched a targeted intervention, mobilizing a unified front of professionals from Immigration, Police, Prosecution, Magistrates, and Social Welfare services.

This initiative aims to dismantle silos and forge a seamless chain of interagency coordination, ensuring robust investigation and decisive prosecution of trafficking crimes. The training program brought theory to life through best practices, real-time case studies, and immersive practical simulations—including a full mock trial. Central to this were the firsthand testimonies of survivors rescued from Myanmar and Thailand, who shared their harrowing journeys from despair to redemption, grounding our mission in urgent human reality.

Over an intensive week, dedicated professionals engaged in relentless learning and profound experience-sharing, strengthening our collective resolve. Human trafficking in Tanzania remains a grave and pressing crime, demanding immediate coordinated action and unwavering political will to dismantle the criminal networks that perpetuate it.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Hanns Seidel Foundation for its generous funding, which made this vital and transformative training possible.
