n Mkuranga District, Tanzania where we are presently working. We are making changes in providing water wells, education and healthcare, and most importantly, helping communities change their standard of living. I am from the Seychelles Islands, 1,000 miles off the East African Coast and more than thirty years ago fate brought me to Tanzania where I now reside and hold a position as the Honorary Consul of The Republic Seychelles.

We were honored to host Mama Mercy Emmanuel Silla, former District Commissioner of Mkuranga and the current President of TWCC, at our Be Organic Store in Masaki.

During her visit, she explored how we can further support women producing organic products by creating stronger market access for their produce through Be Organic Store.

Be Organic Store remains a vibrant hub connecting empowered rural farmers to reliable urban markets strengthening livelihoods, promoting organic agriculture, and driving real economic impact for women and communities.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today, African Reflections Foundation (ARF) proudly celebrates the strength, resilience, and achievements of women who continue to transform families and communities through their dedication and hard work. Women are powerful drivers of change, and their role in building sustainable and prosperous communities is truly invaluable.

At ARF, we are committed to empowering women through organic agriculture and sustainable community development. One of our key initiatives is supporting women farmers through our five organic farms in Mkuranga, where women are given opportunities to participate in sustainable farming, gain skills, improve food security, and generate income for their families. Through these farms, women are not only cultivating healthy organic produce but also cultivating independence, leadership, and long-term economic empowerment.

By investing in women and supporting environmentally friendly farming practices, ARF is helping to build stronger communities while promoting sustainable agriculture that protects our environment for future generations.

On this special day, we celebrate every woman who continues to inspire change, nurture communities, and work tirelessly to create a better future. Your strength, courage, and determination make the world a better place.

Together, let us continue empowering women and creating opportunities for them to grow, lead, and succeed.

Today, African Reflections Foundation conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for a new girls’ hostel at Mwinyi Secondary School in Mkuranga District, sponsored by Build A Life Foundation. Special thanks to Madame Tazzim and the Khalfan Family for their unwavering support in making safe education a reality for girls.

For years, many girls faced challenges: walking long distances, unsafe routes, fatigue, and sometimes dropping out due to lack of accommodation. These hardships affected their learning, confidence, and future opportunities.

Thanks to this partnership, that story is changing. In 2023, we launched the girls’ hostel at Mwarusembe Secondary School. In 2024, we completed the girls’ hostel at Kiparang’anda Secondary School. In 2025, we delivered the girls’ hostel at Dondo Kisiju Secondary School. Each hostel has improved attendance, boosted academic performance, increased safety, and restored dignity for hundreds of girls.

Today’s groundbreaking marks our 4th girls’ hostel project. 2026 is about continuing to empower girls, strengthen communities, and turn challenges into lasting achievements building safe spaces and brighter futures for every girl.

Our Founder, Maryvonne Pool of African Reflections Foundation, visited our farms to ensure continuity and sustainability.

She met with our farmers to understand the challenges they are facing and personally assured them that more water would be made available through the digging of additional wells.

Despite the weather, it was truly inspiring to see their dedication, resilience, and hard work in action.
