Success rarely happens overnight.
For Edwin Omindo, the journey to winning the 2024 Safal Kiswahili Prize for African Literature was built on persistence. Having published seven books, Edwin first submitted his work to the Prize in 2021. In 2023, he was shortlisted among the top 8 entries, and in 2024, his short story collection, “Mungu Hadanganywi Na Hadithi Nyingine,” earned him top honours in the Short Story Collection category.

Today, Edwin shares how that recognition has opened new publishing opportunities and why he believes both aspiring and established writers should continue writing, submitting their work, and believing in their stories.

As we celebrate 10 years of the Safal Kiswahili Prize for African Literature, stories like Edwin's remind us that literary journeys are built one manuscript at a time.

We were pleased to participate in the .university Career Fair, engaging with students and graduates on career opportunities within and the Safal Group.

The event provided a valuable platform to share insights into the skills, experiences, and pathways that can help young professionals build meaningful careers, while also responding to questions from those interested in joining the organization.

also had the opportunity to showcase MRM’s corporate social investment initiatives and the impact being created through our focus areas of Education, Health, Environment, and Shelter. Students were further encouraged to submit their entries to the ongoing Photography Competition, which uses photography as a tool to support access to education while promoting environmental conservation.

Thank you to Strathmore University for hosting this important platform and to all the students and graduates who visited our booth. We look forward to continuing to engage, inspire, and connect with the next generation of professionals and changemakers.
