TAMCODE convenes By- Law Makers in Sumbawanga, Tanzania to promote ICH
Tanzanians have been advised to embrace Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) as doing so will help to transmit knowledge on food preservation to sustain them during natural calamities.
His Lordship Mayor of Sumbawanga Justin Malisawa made the call in Sumbawanga on January 29, 2025 while officiating a one day dialogue to develop a guideline to enact a by- law on intangible cultural heritage in the district and promote employment opportunities for youth and women in the region.
The Tanzania Media for Community Development (TAMCODE) in collaboration with the UNESCO- Alwaleed Philanthropies Project has embarked in a mission to engage By- Law makers in Sumbawanga district in Rukwa region and Mpanda District in Katavi region in Tanzania to promote intangible cultural heritage.
The session brought together councillors, traditional leaders, cultural officers as well as members of the press.
