From 11–13 September, GlobalPlatform Tanzania brought together 25 passionate young candidates from 11 political parties, all of whom dreamed of becoming Members of Parliament, Ward Councillors, and Shehia leaders.

For three days, they immersed themselves in the Youth in Elections Curriculum, learning how to design effective campaigns, write manifestos, debate with confidence, and uphold ethical leadership.

But beyond skills, something even greater happened: friendships and solidarity were built across party lines. It proved that politics doesn’t have to divide us; it can unite us in a shared vision for a fair, inclusive, and democratic Tanzania.

This is just the beginning. The future of leadership is here, and it’s youth-powered!

Leadership and participation are two critical items that complement each other. Youth must know how to actively participate to understand the needs of a community, and how to step up and lead to address those needs effectively.

Youth must not only embrace their Manifesto Agenda but also actively champion its implementation. Ownership is key; young people must lead the monitoring process, ensuring accountability and progress from every perspective.
