Every young person deserves access to accurate information, support, and opportunities to make informed decisions about their future. The cost of silence on sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and gender-based violence is too high. Yet, there is hope. Across Tanzania, religious leaders are stepping forward as champions of positive change within their communities.

UMATI, together with CAMMAC partners, convened religious leaders from different faiths and regions of Tanzania for a sensitization meeting on sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and the prevention of gender-based violence.

As trusted voices and influential community leaders, faith leaders have a unique opportunity to challenge harmful stigma, promote healthy behaviors, and foster informed, supportive, and resilient communities where young people can thrive.

This week, we visited Kakonko Primary School and Kiganamo Murubona Secondary School in Kigoma Region, where we engaged with pupils and students, sharing SRH education and information, creating safe spaces for learning, and empowering them to make informed choices about their health and future.
