We extend our sincere appreciations to everyone who attended following our invitations, with special thanks to our MCs, speakers such as Maria Chilala - the mother of Jane’s grandchildren, Jane’s grandchildren; and all distinguished speakers whose contributions enriched the event.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Anthony Collins - JGI TZ Baboons Research Director, Mr. Frederick Kimaro - Executive Director, Hon. James Lembeli - Board Chair, Emmanuel Mtiti - JGI TZ Senior Director for Programs & Policy, Dr. Noel Biseko Lwoga, Executive Director for National Museum representing the Minister for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Georgina Magesa - young poet and climate activist, Roots & Shoots representatives, Ms. Susan Ngongi Namondo - UN Resident Coordinator, Anna Wilson from British High Commissioner, Dr. Naza Nicholas & Fanuel Massawe - Roots & Shoots Allumni, and all who shared meaningful tributes.
Merlin Van Lawick, Jane’s grandson, offered a touching tribute that beautifully captured her lifelong curiosity and profound bond with nature and how she never stopped learning, never stopped asking questions, and never stopped inspiring care for our planet.
We remember Dr. Jane not only as a pioneering scientist, but as a teacher, mentor, and guiding light. Her legacy calls on us to love nature, protect our planet, and uphold science through compassion and action.
