At the moment, 16 girls that ROMME Caring Tanzania rescued from human traffickers are at DMI Centre in Kibamba, Dar es Salaam pursuing studies to acquire some vocational skills they will need to use for IGAs so as to make their ends meet when back home.

Today (02/06/2026), I had the opportunity to say Hullo to 16 girl survivors of human trafficking at DMI Kibamba, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

ROMME Caring Tanzania (RCT) rescued these girls from traffickers and later joined DMI (Daughters of Mary Immaculate) to acquire vocational skills they will need to enable them make a living after rejoining their respective families in December 2026.

Girls Graduate with Skills for a Better Future

On 3 December 2025, 57 survivors of human trafficking graduated after completing 9 months of vocational training at Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI), Kibamba – Dar es Salaam.

Among them, 25 girls were rescued by ROMME Love Justice Tanzania (RLJT) from traffickers across different regions of Tanzania. They trained in tailoring, catering, and beauty & cosmetology, gaining skills to start income-generating activities and rebuild their lives.

With start-up kits from DMI and reintegration support from Railway Children Africa (RCA) and IOM Tanzania, these young girls—average age 16—are stepping into a future of dignity and independence.

Together, we are restoring hope.
