Mviwaarusha Mtandao wa Vikundi vya Wakulima na Wafugaji Mkoa wa Arusha (MVIWAARUSHA) The objectives of MVIWAARUSHA include:

Strengthening farmers’ groups.

Mtandao wa Vikundi vya Wakulima na Wafugaji Mkoa wa Arusha, abbreviated as MVIWAARUSHA, is a regional network organization in Arusha region, catering for six District Councils namely Meru DC, Aruusha DC, Karatu DC, Longido DC, Ngorongoro DC and Monduli DC. The Regional Network was born out of a District Network MVIWAMO, which in spite of focusing on the Monduli DC and Longido DC, it had been inst

rumental in mobilizing the formation of MVIWAARUSHA networks in Karatu DC, Arumeru East (Meru DC) and Arumeru West (Arusha DC). In 2012, MVIWAMO with the other District Networks managed to form MVIWAARUSHA – an umbrella network of farmer groups in Arusha region. The main purpose of the network is to improve communication amongst farmers' groups in order to enhance the participation of small-scale farmers in planning, implementation/ supervision of social, economic and understanding of political processes. Mobilization of farmers’ groups to form and/or join farmers’ networks. Facilitation of communication between MVIWAARUSHA, district networks, local networks, farmers’ groups various institutions and other relevant organizations. Bringing about changes of ideas and knowledge, skills and experience on farming and livestock keeping activities.

Following the highly successful FORI phase-out celebration held in Arusha, on 2 June 2026, the WEEFFECT team, TARI Selian experts, the MVIWAARUSHA Steering Committee, and project staff came together for a field visit to ongoing project activities in Arusha DC, Monduli, and Karatu districts.

During the visit, the team witnessed numerous positive results and achievements realized through the FORI project. These included well-established Farmer Service Centers, processing machinery supporting value addition, and many other impactful interventions that continue to benefit farming communities across the region.

The visit highlighted the sustainability and long-term impact of FORI's investments, demonstrating how the project's outcomes continue to strengthen agricultural development and improve livelihoods.

FORI is a project that will remain in our hearts and minds for many years to come. We extend our sincere appreciation to the European Union for its generous funding support, as well as to AgriCord, ACP, and WEEFFECT for their invaluable partnership and commitment to the project's success.

These successes were showcased during the FORI Project Phase-Out Celebration, where participants reflected on the project's remarkable journey and its contributions to community development.

Leo tunakutana kuadhimisha mafanikio makubwa ya Mradi wa FORI baada ya miaka mitatu ya utekelezaji wenye mafanikio, ushirikiano, ubunifu na kujifunza pamoja na wakulima katika maeneo mbalimbali ya utekelezaji.

Huu si mwisho wa safari, bali ni fursa ya kutafakari kuhusu uendelevu wa mafanikio yaliyopatikana na urithi ambao mradi umeuacha kwa jamii. Kupitia mradi huu, wakulima wamejengewa uwezo, mbinu bora za kilimo zimeimarishwa, na ushirikiano kati ya wakulima, watafiti na wadau mbalimbali umeongezeka.

Tunatafakari namna matokeo ya mradi yataendelea kuwanufaisha wakulima na jamii kwa ujumla hata baada ya kukamilika kwa utekelezaji wake. Maarifa, ujuzi, teknolojia na mifumo iliyoanzishwa kupitia FORI ni msingi muhimu wa kuendeleza maendeleo ya kilimo na ustawi wa jamii.

Urithi wa Mradi wa FORI unaonekana wazi katika wilaya za Karatu, Monduli na Arusha DC, ambapo wakulima na watafiti sasa wana mifano halisi ya mafanikio ya kuonesha, kujifunza na kuiga. Mafanikio haya yataendelea kuwa chachu ya maendeleo endelevu kwa miaka mingi ijayo.

Kwa pamoja, tunaadhimisha mafanikio ya jana, tunathamini mchango wa wadau wote, na tunajenga matumaini ya kesho yenye maendeleo makubwa zaidi kwa jamii zetu.

As we commemorate the successful completion of the FORI Project, we proudly celebrate our esteemed partner, We Effect, whose unwavering support and commitment to capacity building have been instrumental throughout the project journey.

Through the generous funding provided by AgriCord via We Effect, the project has achieved significant milestones in empowering farmers, strengthening local capacities, and promoting sustainable agricultural development. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both organizations for their trust, partnership, and dedication to improving the livelihoods of farming communities.

We Effect was represented at the event by the Country Liaison Officer, Mr. Frank Ademba, and his team, who joined us in reflecting on the project's achievements and lasting impact.

The FORI Project leaves an indelible mark on the communities of Karatu, Monduli, and Arusha DC. Farmers and researchers who participated in the project now have tangible results, valuable experiences, and successful innovations that can be showcased, replicated, and emulated by others. MVIWAARUSHA continues to serve as a center of excellence for organizations and students from universities around the world, providing valuable learning opportunities in agroecology and engagement with smallholder farmers across different sectors.

We are honored to welcome this evening a delegation from the School for International Studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. The delegation was led by Dr. Jason Stearns, a professor at the university.

MVIWAARUSHA remains committed to leading and championing the legacy of supporting and working closely with smallholder farmers in Tanzania.
