Mviwaarusha Mtandao wa Vikundi vya Wakulima na Wafugaji Mkoa wa Arusha (MVIWAARUSHA) The objectives of MVIWAARUSHA include:

Strengthening farmers’ groups.

Mtandao wa Vikundi vya Wakulima na Wafugaji Mkoa wa Arusha, abbreviated as MVIWAARUSHA, is a regional network organization in Arusha region, catering for six District Councils namely Meru DC, Aruusha DC, Karatu DC, Longido DC, Ngorongoro DC and Monduli DC. The Regional Network was born out of a District Network MVIWAMO, which in spite of focusing on the Monduli DC and Longido DC, it had been inst

rumental in mobilizing the formation of MVIWAARUSHA networks in Karatu DC, Arumeru East (Meru DC) and Arumeru West (Arusha DC). In 2012, MVIWAMO with the other District Networks managed to form MVIWAARUSHA – an umbrella network of farmer groups in Arusha region. The main purpose of the network is to improve communication amongst farmers' groups in order to enhance the participation of small-scale farmers in planning, implementation/ supervision of social, economic and understanding of political processes. Mobilization of farmers’ groups to form and/or join farmers’ networks. Facilitation of communication between MVIWAARUSHA, district networks, local networks, farmers’ groups various institutions and other relevant organizations. Bringing about changes of ideas and knowledge, skills and experience on farming and livestock keeping activities.

Our Programs Officer, Mr. Damian Sulumo, who also serves as the Programs Officer for SHIWAKUTA, facilitated a side event held during the Nanenane Exhibition in Dodoma.

The event brought together various stakeholders in collaboration with the Seed Working Group to discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding the agroecological products market, including both national and international market opportunities.

The discussion was successfully conducted and provided important insights into strengthening market access for agroecological products across borders. Stakeholders also identified key challenges affecting the growth of agroecological markets and proposed practical solutions to address these barriers.

The event marked an important step toward building stronger connections among stakeholders and promoting sustainable, farmer-centered markets for agroecological products.

Our staff member, Mr. Godwin Sebastian, has continued to represent MVIWAARUSHA well at the National Farmers Fair (Nanenane) in Dodoma.

On 6 August 2026, he showcased our organization’s activities and agroecological products to various high-profile visitors who visited our exhibition booth. Among the visitors were the former Prime Minister, Hon. Mizengo Pinda, as well as Permanent Secretaries from different ministries and government directors.

MVIWAARUSHA is proudly presenting its work through the national umbrella organization, the Confederation of Smallholder Farmers (SHIWAKUTA), highlighting the importance of sustainable and farmer-centered agricultural practices.

We believe in agroecological farming, and promoting sustainable food systems remains at the heart of our work.

🌱This morning, 4 August 2026, we were privileged to host the Karatu District Commissioner, Hon. Lameck Karanga, at our pavilion during the Nanenane Exhibition.

During his visit, Hon. Karanga toured the ongoing exhibitions by farmers from across the region, including those representing SHIWAKUTA. He also visited our agroecology demonstration site and viewed the range of agroecological products on display at our pavilion.

Hon. Karanga commended MVIWAARUSHA for its outstanding work in promoting sustainable agriculture and community development. He noted that he had heard about the positive impact of MVIWAARUSHA's initiatives and expressed his appreciation for the organization's efforts.

He further praised MVIWAARUSHA for its deliberate inclusion of women and youth in its programmes and implementation activities, describing this as an important priority that aligns with the Government's agenda for inclusive development.

We are honoured by his visit and encouragement, which inspires us to continue promoting agroecology and empowering farming communities.
