Lengo Football Academy Providing high quality football programs in Australia to create pathways for disadvantaged Tanzanian youth to score goals on and off the football field

Lengo Football Academy is a not-for-profit which seeks to harness the power of football to bring about positive social change, nurture talent and alleviate poverty in Tanzania. We believe every young person should have the opportunity to transform their lives and reach their potential in life. Lengo Football Academy in Tanzania offers opportunities for disadvantaged youth, street kids and orphans

to better their lives through football. We provide coaching and training six days a week and assist our young players to gain an education, valuable life skills and vocational support as well as provide a professional route for talented new players. In Australia, we run a social enterprise delivering high quality football programs to youth based in Melbourne with 100% of profits supporting communities in Tanzania. Lengo Football Academy is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit Commission (ACNC) with deductible gift recipient (DGR) status in Australia.

Contribute to our gofundme: $5000 FOR 50 FUTURES!

We aim to raise $5,000 by Christmas. Funds will sponsor 50 youth for school in 2022. If we exceed our goal, more students can be sponsored for school or a trade at a vocational college.

Prior to the pandemic, living essentials such as food, medicine, and education were scarcely attainable for Tanzanians. With COVID now exacerbating these issues, the Lengo youth and their families are more in need than ever. The opportunity to attend school provides learning, one hot meal for the day, and the key to a better future.

No matter how small your contribution, please offer your support in donating. We thank you, as your help today will create the futures of tomorrow!

Our Founder, Emanuel Saakai provides an update of what's been happening at our academy in Tanzania.

As Australia moves towards Spring and a hoped-for easing of pandemic lockdowns in several states, Lengo has remained busy behind the scenes and continued to press ahead in Tanzania despite the ravages of COVID-19. We are excited to announce that our Lengo Lady Lions produced a phenomenal achievement as Arusha’s proud representative at the national women’s tournament in Dodoma in July.
Against 23 of the top teams from every region of Tanzania, in games broadcast live on national TV throughout Tanzania, Lengo Lady Lions stepped up to reach the quarter-finals, led by team captain Angel, who among others impressed premier league teams’ scouts.

Here is a video of them celebrating their achievement as they reached the quarter finals!

"My name is Angel Wilbert, I'm a team captain for Lengo Lady Lions. First and foremost, I would like to extend our gratitude to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for establishing this great national competition. It has enabled us to gain a huge experience, skills and knowledge just for playing in this level of competition as it is our first team to play in it and compete. We have learned so much, we have understood so much and above all, we're beyond excited to reach the quarter finals. We would like to promise our fans and our city (Arusha) that we will fight, and we will bring home good results which will put our region on the map. This competition will be aired live on FGA TV. You are all welcome to subscribe and watch us!
